One or two requests for a virus thread. Will this do?
Personally I have self isolated since I returned from Belgium a week ago. Initially for the protection of others and now for my personal protection considering my age and lung problems!

So with Covid, how do we conclude the season? Table soccer, Subbuteo; Paper Scissors Stone: any other suggestions?

It's interesting how all this is playing out in the media. On the one hand they are saying its mild for most who get it and on the other they are telling horror stories pushing people into panicing. Of course we have to be sensible but I tend to feel that if I get it that's fate.

Like you Gale I am a Fatalist, by religion in my case. You cannot cheat death but I intend to make it as difficult as possible for the Grim Reaper in the hope that he will get fed up and find an easier target! The only thing I am panic buying is wine.

Panic buying wine sounds sensible to me!

So with Covid, how do we conclude the season? Table soccer, Subbuteo; Paper Scissors Stone: any other suggestions? It will probably be concluded to our detriment. But we probably deserve that considering out league position. If all is cancelled we can laugh at Leeds and Liverpool and hope we have learned enough to be better next time!

I've already re-watched series 1 and 2 of 'Line of Duty', start series 3 tonight. Much more of this and 'Eastenders' and 'Coronation Street' could become possibilities.

How is this for an idea...Liverpool are granted the Premier League Title and the top 4 as it stands are in Europe next season...No team is relegated to the Championship, but the top 2 teams as it stands in the Championship are promoted to the Premiership...No teams are relegated from the Championship, but the top 2 teams from League 1 are promoted to the Championship...No teams are relegated from League 1, but top 2 promoted from League 2... No team is relegated from League 2 but top 2 from National league promoted ... The balance to the leagues could be adjusted to suit, through promotions and relegations at the end of next season...Easy peasey...no need for anyone to sue anyone !

My other half said all along we'd only survive by the season being cancelled!
As to occupying time; I'm catching up on Council reading and the films Mr Rutland has been recording. Scottish Mussel the best so far!

Mr Rutland said something along these lines was suggested on the Google news feed a couple of days ago. I'm not sure in the Premiership would accept it as it would increase the numbers in their leage and, as they would see it, potential fixture congestion.

They would only have to play 4 extra games for just one season, and it could be addressed back to their normal numbers for the following seasons !

Not sure the teams in say 3rd-8th would be happy as with up to 10 games still to play they have a good arguement that they could get into a promotion spot.

As I see it from today's briefing there is no way this season is going to be finished on the pitch so suggestions like Sussex's above is the only solution. They are talking about 12 week isolation for older folks.

Here’s two recent quotes to get things going
‘The new hoax’ D Trump, Leader of the Free World
‘In the past week, we have seen a rapid escalation of cases of COVID-19. More cases and deaths have now been reported in the rest of the world than in China. We have also seen a rapid escalation in social distancing measures, like closing schools and cancelling sporting events and other gatherings. But we have not seen an urgent enough escalation in testing, isolation and contact tracing – which is the backbone of the response.’ Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus World Health Organisation Director General
Make your own mind up with regard to which of the above has got a real grip on things, and which of these two has had, very reluctantly, to dramatically alter their position.
So on the scale of the current health, economic and social problems facing not just the UK but also the world, all things footie are of minimal comparative consequence
The season will not be concluded so the only feasible solution is to void it (remember, there is now v little opportunity for football authorities to convene to even begin to devise a fair solution)
With the exception of the League Cup, all leagues and cups, both domestic and European, are unresolved? Although even Liverpool have a vast lead, it is not unassailable so you cannot award them a title but deny others the chance to have otherwise changed positions with regard to promotion/relegation- so doing would be to open the door to innumerable legal challenges.
With regard to the ‘hoax’, stay safe and well everyone, I’m sure we’ll all get through this and continue our footie exchanges at the earliest opportunity.

Serious excellent advice by Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases: Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat are moist, never dry. Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least. Why? Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach. Once there, your stomach acid will kill all the virus. If you don't drink enough water more regularly, the virus can enter your windpipe and into the lungs. That's very dangerous. Please send and share this with family and friends. Take care everyone and may the world recover from this Coronavirus soon.
