biscot boy: I have a different view, as a person who grew up in Luton and started watching the team in 1955, we were then holding our own in the top division comfortably and had a fair number of well known international players. I found this article patronising.

8two: Opposition players I can name that have stuck in my mind from the mid 1950's are few but Matthews, Finney, Charles and Shackleton are the first I recall.

biscot boy: Lofthouse, Quixall, Ivor Allchurch, Finney, Matthews, Eastham, Mc.Ilroy, Blanchflower, Broadbent were ast my early opposition recollections.

8two: Albert Quixall made all the national papers when he did ballet lessons and exercises as a help to his game and fitness and Blanchflower one of the first to train with the ball rather than general fitness.
