clappers: Staines Town FC was my home town club where I spent many happy Saturdays as a school boy in the 60s. Can remember watching them in a home replay in the FA Cup, which was at Brentford's old ground because our ground was too small. Club no longer exits.

8two: I went to the Staines game and obviously saw the young Pelly. Combined the trip to see our old home in Shortwood Avenue which we moved into after getting bombed out of London. Left Staines for Luton in 1951.

clappers: Dave, I think I recall you mentioning your Staines visit to me previously. Shortwood Avenue was the other side of town to me but I was aware of it because of its close proximity to the cemetery where some of my mother's family were laid to rest.

8two: Ray if you pop down there on google maps the last house on the right hand side next to the entrance to the common was ours. My Dad owned two in the avenue as he also purchased one for his brother.

clappers: Dave, the properties at the end of the Avenue near your old house look well looked after and, I expect, are a bit more expensive than dear ol' Luton.

8two: I wonder if the clubs in non-league or Leagues 1 and 2 feel about it being deprived of potential extra gate money? Hope I live long enough to see the top half a dozen or so clubs p155 off abroad.

hatterinSW19: Quite. Changes for the benefit of a few clubs playing in Europe dressed up as benefitting lower leagues, but actually increasing the chances of the big club going through. Playing to get them back to your place for a replay is part of the magic of the cup.

hatterinSW19: Moving the 5th round away from midweek is a positive, though, I guess.

8two: I think this will cause a far bigger uproar than the despicable FA's design of the new England shirt. It's an absolute disgrace.

ickle2: No one back from injury, Mengi still doubtful - so just Kabore back from last week.
