Some of you I know are train enthusiasts. I took a few pics whilst in Canada which you wont have seen unless you read my Facebook page. Here they are (I hope).

Union of South Africa at Luton Station today (8.3.20). A similar angle to Tony's painting.

When I took the train from York to Middlesbrough a couple of weeks ago Union of SA was in the sidings at the National Rail Museum. Great picture of it going through Luton Liz.

Really surprised LTFC Mick hasn’t posted a photo of the Skimpot Flyer ! COYH Doubt if Mick even knew there was a railway line between Luton and Leighton Buzzard tassie. I travelled on it many times to get to Linslade tunnel with Ian Allan book and sandwiches. In hindsight it was frightening how close we could get to the track.

Had many trips to Linslade Tunnels either by bus or the "Dunstable Dasher". Bottle of tizer and cheese and Marmite sarnies and maybe a small fruit pie lasted us all day. And then the locos, Coronations, Scots, Jubs!! Happy Days.

I definitely saw it somewhere in its blue colours, test run possibly? image sharing

Built in 1948 and the first mainline diesels in Britain.

Must have done Steve, even in the early and mid 1950's seeing diesels was still a novelty whilst leaning up against the fence to Bute Street station looking opposite at the main line. Excellent Liz saw those two double heading on many occasions. We were always behind many countries in the world who have had electric traction from before the 2nd W.War and earlier. We're still waiting for electrical power down to Bristol and the West Country. Think it's polical expediency, can kicked down the road etc. Doubt whether we'll see HS2 built in our life times, and yet the Chinese built a hospital in two weeks!!

OK, it didn't work. How do I attach pics from my computer? Something I’ve never managed to master but there is a very simple solution (and I’m being serious), I send via email to LCH and he usually and very kindly obliges.

Have you mastered opening the Shredded Wheat box and making a cup of tea yet Mick? 1. Do not use the quick reply facility 2. Use reply or quote
3. add image to post4. instruction box appears: add image from computer5. select image upload
6. post when finished loading job done.
