I wonder what the world would look like if we got rid of the evil big business. Having a good idea creates a business, chasing profits creates jobs, so far so good. Give him a knighthood! Another good idea. A better way of doing it reduces jobs. Evil people! Hang them!

The NYTimes article on Trump was interesting. I particularly likes this bit "But even as his companies did poorly, Mr. Trump did well. He put up little of his own money, shifted personal debts to the casinos and collected millions of dollars in salary, bonuses and other payments. The burden of his failures fell on investors and others who had bet on his business acumen." sounds a bit like some football club owners! Couldn't agree more. Makes an enormous loss, but none out of his pocket. His investors, the public etc are the losers. the same way he is running his government.

Must be an English thing or something I missed - but can someone advise who/what Guido is?
Liz as for the above, I see no major problem. They will provide a view/comment on whatever the issue is. It may not be agreeable to you or many others, but none-the-less it is a view, and they appear to have some credentials - 6 professors (of what I do not know) and a Knight of the Realm.

Guido Fawkes is a right wing website which investigate political matters that seem to be fine but have deeper implications and skeletons in many a closet. Recent investigations have been the heavy bias that the BBC have shown with their guests and commentators and failing to tell the viewer what their affiliations, background and history is. That also applies to Sky News but fortunately not in the same league as the BBC. If one reads Hislop's Private Eye then reading Guido is probably essential for a nice balanced view from a couple of synics. If you google guido fawkes then there is information about its owner/founder. Whatever you personal views, it's an entertaining read order-order.com/

Guido Fawkes is not a commentator a level-headed person would follow.
And if Dominic Cummings (who is not a scientist of any description, can have a seat and a voice on SAGE, why can't these scientists have a say?

I heard similar on LBC this evening from someone I don't usually have time for, namely Nigel Farrage. One can't really accuse him of being anti Tory but he tore into Handcock, Patel and Boris. Strange times indeed.

And if Dominic Cummings (who is not a scientist of any description, can have a seat and a voice on SAGE, why can't these scientists have a say? Your first line maggie reminds me of someone who regularly posts on 'Outlaws' and I take it as a personal dig at me. I said in my original post that Guido is an entertaining read and I also said it was a right wing publication. However Guido is no different to reading any other publication where the journalists have a given agenda. The difference being that what Guido chooses to publish is backed up with published facts. It is a fact that the BBC and to a slightly lesser extent Sky give preference when choosing their 'experts' to wholly left and sometimes far left contributors. This has reached such a stage that warnings have reached the BBC Director General, we'll have to see what that results in. And your point regarding DC, does he contribute, proof? or is he just observing on behalf of the Government. Of course the scientists(?) can have their say,but like the real experts, keep it non-political. Everyone can have their say, that's the Guardian, the Socialist Worker, Mirror, Sun, Mail, New Statesman, Express, New European, Spectator and even the War Cry et al. Educated and self-thinking folk will absorb it all and come to a reasoned conclusion. I came to mine decades ago. Marxism, Communism and Socialism can only lead to an unmitigated disaster for the majority of the population.

Glad you enjoy the Guardian Sunny, as do I when I need something to confirm my right of centre views. I remember fondly from my younger days the Manchester Guardian and having to lie on one's stomach to read it. It would have been the perfect publication in the war giving square yards that could be cut up into squares and hung on the privy nail.

Sorry, I wasn't making a dig at you, Liz. Please accept my apologies.
Any broadsheet would have provided the appropriate yardage.
Several attendeees reported, at the beginning of last week, Cummings's presence and speaking at the meetings. Mr. Google could be consulted.

PMQs today first time Johnson faces questions from Starmer. Think the later will ask about Care Home fatalities and road map to ending lockdown. Will the new buzz word from the Government side be "this is not the time to be discussing this"?.
