OK Folks Basildon Bond here, Your update is ready for print. I did state last time that I expected things to slow down a little, well I was dead right. But some things have moved along. I started out for a change, up on Crescent road, but could not gain access to the Garage nor the wine place, so walked round to the service road leading to site. What struck me straight away was how neat and tidy the entrance is now. The new weighbridge and site office are the first thing you notice. More tarmac has been laid and the concrete blocks define the car park. We do have an additional earth mover on site ( The Michigan type ), which was clearing an area, perhaps for assembly of kit. The crane boom sections seemed to me more orderly now, and I did notice what looked like a 5 gallon drum of grease, maybe for the assembly of the booms, eg greasing the threads. I did note however that we had about 6 people on site ( No Paddy Murphy Tassie ). 2 driving Earth movers, A lorry carrying parts of Cantilever platforms, newly arrived and being unloaded. I spied a number of stackable Grillages and Stillages and a number of what looked like walkway platforms but were easily beefy enough to carry the vehicles. An Eastern European guy was marking the platforms off for either drilling, burning of holes or the addition of lifting lugs. The existing lifting areas had the covers up so had been lifted off, but I'm guessing the Forklift would have done that, or the Hyab. The conveyor/ Crusher unit was not in operation at all, but there was a few shall I say small mountains of aggregate, so obviously that is being stored on site as somebody asked me the other week, in preparation for shipping off site. A few massive piles of the larger stuff ready for the crusher. It looked like only a couple of the re bar scrap carrying containers had been taken off site, so still around 4 of those left. I also spoke to a guy I assume to be a Gaffer, as he reminded me of Me except I walked around site quicker, and he was the Pot Model of Nathan Jones, so that will be his name in future. I asked how its going after explaining who I was, but he just stated the obvious and said "Ooh Years from being finished". I noted also that the units there were still occupied by a number of small companies, ( I will try and get in there to speak with somebody if there is anybody around next time I drop in , as they may well be able to shed a bit of light on when they are expecting to be moved out. One thing I really would like to see happen, Is the clearing of the jungle beneath the trees at the Crawley Green road End, I think that its name, once that Jungle has gone I will be able to see a lot more. ... Well Guys and Girls I'm sorry there was not more to tell you but it is what it is... Slow progress. so that's all for now. Basildon Bond...

There's not much of a market for aggregate at the moment but that will change. I'm not surprised, therefore, there's some storage on site. Thanks for update BB!

Hello Folks, As a few of you will be aware Basildon Bond has had a few issues of late, so for obvious reasons was unable to get down to Power Court to check on progress. So I'm standing in for him. Brooke Bond is the name, and I have carried out the latest mission at Power Court.
The first thing I noticed was the rebuilding of the perimeter fence, It's now virtually fully enclosed at the Ramp end. A bund wall made from earth has been built, which now surrounds what I imagine is a terminus for trucks and trailers. The village that was contained within has disappeared along with all its inhabitants. The vast majority of vehicles within the compound are Brian Doogue Haulage Trucks and trailers, numbering around 8 or 9 of each. Also in the compound a huge workshop has been erected, along with offices and a large number of company cars, as well as a cleaning station and maintenance shop. This is all to the left of the barrier across the road on the in/out ramp. I could not say for certain though that it is all ours and for Power Court, or the compound has been sub-let to a Haulage company, though I doubt it.
On the main site it looks like a new road has been laid right along the back of the site running parallel with the railway line, just inside the fence, I can only confirm this by gaining access to the Wine outlet company, which hopefully will be my next move ( 5 Minutes won't hurt will it ? )
Just below the security offices, what I originally thought was a car park, turns out to be a tipping area, 3 bays have been set up and tipping has begun, but from the road I was unable to see what exactly was being tipped. It did however look like aggregate was being tipped and stored there, but I will endeavour to clarify that at a later date.
Additional earth moving equipment has also been brought to site, and the digging up/ destruction of the old concrete bases continues. Additional temporary steelwork has also been brought in, as well as Piling plates, the interlocking type, although this was only around a dozen or so, but it is a start. They looked to be in 20 metre or more lengths.
The test bore drillers have once again been in action nearer the car park end, I'm assuming this is roughly where the Piling will begin, near the rail way perimeter fence heading towards ST. Marys Church, I guess around 50 metres or so from the old weigh bridge station.
A number of containers/ Cabins have also been brought to site, to accommodate the workforce. Also cleaning / sanitising stations, as well as tool stores and a number of bench seats and canteen tables.
The aggregate screening / conveyor machine was still in operation along with our 2 JCB's, but I do feel that number will multiply earlier rather than later. The site as a whole does now appear more organised, and for a Brown field site particularly clean. I do however anticipate that will change the moment Gary Sweet sticks his thumb firmly down on top of the big green button.
Not sure if I have missed anything there Folks, but if anything does spring to mind, rest assured I will add it when My brain gets out of Neutral again.
Your Humble reporter Brooke Bond..... Till the next instalment. COYH...

Just a thought folks, If any of you Guys and Gals feel the need to go out for essentials in your cars over the current lockdown, and happen to be driving anywhere near Junction 10, I was wondering if it would be possible to drive by and check out what's happening out there, as My spy tells me there has been movement, and I at the moment am not in a position to investigate it Myself ?
Cheers
Bond...
