Good news that the officers report recommends approval. 1-0 up in the first half... I like it and have a theory - I think we are more than 1-0 up ,
Ironically, this is because of the extensive and poor obstructive practices of C&R The Council are made up of Luton people, voted for by Luton people - C&R are not even Luton based. If I was a Luton Councillor I wouldn't have to be a very bright one to see right through all their very pathetic objections and obfuscations up to this point. I would also have enough knowledge of Gary Sweet and co to know where my bread was buttered.
PLUS - we have the biggest set of locally backed support consultation letters in the history of redevelopment planning applications...
I reckon it's 2-0 and the opposition have four players on yellow cards.

Blimey, that didn't take long!
Just received message from relative that he's seen adverts (published today) for technical staff for tier one contractors with stadium experience in the London/Luton area. These were advertised through recruiting agencies so the name of the contractor isn't mentioned.
Unless you can think of any other stadiums being built ATM - Brentford (already under way, I believe), QPR and Chelsea (both on hold), Fulham (depends upon their owner buying Wembley) ... can't think of any more. But why mention "Luton" in the adverts if they're London based sites anyway?

I like this bit. "Taking all these matters into account, balancing the social, environmental and economic benefits of the development against the residual harm, approval is recommended"

It will only be match when Newlands Park is approved and all possible avenues of appeal, or C&R themselves, are squashed or otherwise rejected.

It was a rather tongue in cheek reply Offpat, referring to the social, environmental and economic part of the statement. We are by no means out of the woods yet I know.

I cant see NP being approved, not being over pessimistic, just more of a realist. I don't think it would be the end of the new stadium if NP wasn't approved, I would be surprised if 2020 don't have a plan B option for funding or even part funding PC even if it isn't the perfect option, I still believe they have enough about them to deliver the stadium.
Maybe some of the compensation money from NJ leaving for Stoke might be put to good use.

A trusted friend "Canary 99" said to me... " I have it on good Authority that both PC & Newlands will be approved by LBC before 21st January".

Thing is, both would give us a real chance of being sustainable if we push for higher reaches of the Championship or even get into the Premiership. Without it, we will always be liable to have to sell players (and *bleeping* managers). We have to push for, and hope for, both.

STADIUM PLANNING APPROVAL IS FANTASTIC NEWS FOR LUTON AND LUTON TOWN FANS
Tonight's news that Luton Borough Council's Planning Committee has approved plans for a new stadium at Power Court is fantastic news, not just for Luton Town Football Club fans, but for everyone in and around our town.
This historic decision means that nearly 60 years after plans were first drawn up for a new stadium LTFC has planning permission for a new home in the centre of town, on land which is owned by the club.
Quite rightly we should all celebrate this momentous occasion. However, we have to remind fans that this is only half-time in the process.
In a fortnight's time, on January 30th, the Planning Committee meets again to consider the second 2020 application - for the transformative development at Newlands Park, which will provide a 21st century gateway to the town.
This mixed use development, together with the Power Court stadium and associated developments, will inspire a complete regeneration of the town, providing 10,000 new jobs and bringing several hundred million pounds into the local economy every year.
We need members of the Planning Committee to remain strong and focused on what is best for the future of the town when considering this decision, in the face of the unrelenting campaign by Capital & Regional to block 2020's plans.
In our view C&R's delaying tactics and cynical use of its shareholders funds to delay -rather than embrace- the plans for our town and our football club are a disgrace. But we are now half way towards resolving that – towards regeneration and a new future for Luton.
This is our town. This is our time.

Anybody seen this or is it old news?
We Are Luton Town @wearelutontown Following Following @wearelutontown More So @mkcouncil have put in the latest possible objection to #NewlandsPark and both @marklancastermk and @iainastewart the respective MPs for Milton Keynes have ’wholeheartedly agreed to support the objection’ 1/2

it's all over 'Outlaws' greeno. The more intelligent comments from reliable posters say it can only be interpreted as on competition grounds and is therefore irrelevant.
