Seems like an age ago winning at Hull, the players have had a good couple of weeks to recharge and get rid of some injuries. Now for the run in starting with the Lions in front of a once again full house. Tomorrow there will be three generations of Shatter walking up Kenilworth Road, myself, my son and ten year old Grandson James who will be at his first big football match. Let's hope he sees a good un. COYH!! Millwall Trivia. It's 37 years since the infamous riot at the end of our quarter final match against Millwall. It sparked us introducing an away fan ban, being expelled from the League Cup and our introduction of a membership scheme. We won the match and then faced Everton at Villa Park in the semi final, we all know what happened there.

Crowd violence as far as Millwall is concerned is nothing new. I read some time ago that the "Old Den" was closed due to the violence 5 times before 1919...

How marvellous it will be should we achieve an unlikely double over our dear friends from the Den and with all three generations of Shatter present - surely a good omen?
Or will Jed Wallace and co, who have had a decent run of form too, stymie our unlikely play off chances?

My Luton game attending number 1,921 and the 1,242nd at Kenilworth Road.
I've seen the Lions play here in 23 clashes from 1969-2019. Luton victories 7, Seven draws and 9 Defeats. Too many to itemise in full, but a few stand outs were:
1969-70 League Cup 2 Luton 2 ( Malcolm Macdonald, Laurie Sheffield RIP) MFC 2 Att: 17,372 - a lot of crowd violence on the Oak Road terrace - trouble and Millwall went together like peas in a pod! In the Replay, my late Dad attended with his Painting gang and had to fight their way out of an Old Kent Road pub pre match, fight their way out of the seats when Keith Allen scored the only goal 3 mins from the end of Extra Time.........and fight their way out of a local Chinese Restaurant post match!!!
1971-72 Div 2 Luton 2 ( Chris Nicholl, Peter Anderson) MFC 1 Att: 15,113 - one of our best displays of what was poor 71-72 season after the departure of Malcolm Macdonald. High flying Lions lost only their 3rd/24 league game at that point. A result that would eventually cost them promotion to Div 1 for a first ever time, by just a single point to Birmingham City.
1973-74 Div 2 Luton 3 ( John Faulkner RIP, Peter Anderson, Gordon Hindson) MFC 0 Att: 15,740 - a convincing Town result that went a huge way towards our promotion with only 2 games to play after. We clinched it with a point at WBA the following Saturday. I had only returned from living in Adelaide, Oz two days before, but some things never changed - Three STABBINGS on the Oak Road terrace itself, not all victims were Luton fans either!
1984-85 FA Cup Quarter Final Luton 1 ( Brian Stein) MFC 0 Att: 17,470* - enough has been written about THAT infamous night of shame to fill my 3 books alone! * + a minimum of 3,000 Millwall fans who smashed a Kenilworth Road gate down and bunked into an already crammed full away section! How there were no fatalities that night was a pure miracle.
1992-93 Div 1 (old Div 2) Luton 1 ( Phil Gray) MFC 1 Att: 8,371 - a match that the promising & very talented young Scot Darren Salton - was magnificent in! Sadly, it was his 24th and final LTFC appearance. A week later he was involved in a fatal car crash near Beadlow Manor with team mate Paul Telfer (unhurt) that left him fighting for his life with brain/head injuries. Tragically a couple of pensioners in the other car were killed.
2005-06 Championship (old Div 2) Luton 2 ( Warren Feeney, Curtis Davies) MFC 1 Att: 8,220 - young Curtis scored only his 2nd & last Hatters goal (the other at Wrexham) in what turned out to be his 62nd and final LTFC appearance, before being sold to WBA for a then club record (until James Justin) £3m.
2012-13 FA Cup 5 Luton 0 MFC 3 Att: 9,768 - in front of a sold out Kenny, non league Hatters magnificent FA Cup run came to an end. In truth, it was as good as over before half time at 0-2. Still a fantastic achievement though - the best thing Paul Buckle did for us (apart from getting us to a Conference play Off Final too.)

Cheers Loyal. Think I went to the 71/2 game, but def went to the 05/5 ‘Curtis’ game. Hope for a repeat of either of those results today

Well, Snodgrass was very determined to take that kick and rightly so- it gave us a deserved point. Millwall are always tough opponents, this time aided by yet another poor referee. Onwards and maybe even upwards.

My Grandson enjoyed his first Luton match seemed most impressed with the swearing from the crowd!!😱 How we didn't win the match with all that attacking second half beats me but a well deserved point. Campbell's a handful could be a contender for Man of the Season IMO. I'll take 4 points from the Lions this season a difficult side to play against.
