What is happening at the Lansdowne as I saw a To Let sign at the front of the car park? hi John Not 'for let' it's 'for sale'. The Club is no longer viable following several years of losses. The membership is down from a peak of 1,500 to approx 340. At a special meeting in March the membership voted for closure. Personally I am gutted as I have been a member continuously since 1962. As the membership owns the freehold and therefore all the equity they have in effect, in regard to the financial situation, voted for a share out. However, no dates have been set and the plan is to have a structured closure. It is anticipated that the surrounding area would point to residential development and this is not instantly achieved. I would therefore anticipate that it is likely that the Club will be open for some time yet and personally expect that I'll be parking and refreshing there at the start of next season. I will not however be selling parking season tickets as I would not want that under my name should closure come before next season's end. Hope that explains Regards Dave

And what about the “Non” Ale drinkers...I can’t get my head around the need to satisfy a few tree hugging CND activists rather than concentrating on the more intellectual drinkers that prefer a decent Australian brew.

The growing of coffee in Australia is not new. In fact coffee arabica grown on the far north coast of NSW won awards in Paris and Rome in the 1880's. Just refilled the machine Mick, hopefully see you Saturday

A very sad day for all supporters who have used the club for pre match drinks and food.

A very sad day for all supporters who have used the club for pre match drinks and food. Absolutely Lake, so much credit to you Liz for creating a fabulous environment for a great number of fans to socialise pre-match and many lasting friendships will have evolved because of this, a truly sad occasion. I know my own visits are infrequent but the Lansdowne is easily my personal favourite when I do venture out. Finding another venue will not be easy and when you look at the numbers, it will never be the same.

LANSDOWNE PARKING
We have decided to offer parking after the Club closes for business on November 20th. You can purchase a car park permit which will last you until January 21st. This covers you for six Saturday games and any mid-week ones during this period. The cost will be £12. The car park company are contracted to patrol until the end date. On the downside there will be no car park flood lights. You can reserve a permit on here (30 available) and they will be available from Saturday, 17th November. Please don't shoot the messenger.
