easy table and Final fixtures good for 22nd July!

After that 2nd half when we suddenly rediscovered how to pass and run with the ball (Jeez how we missed LuaLua this season, and I don't believe it was all injury related was it?)
I shall be glued to the news this week re Sheffield Bloody Wednesday - and on Wednesday night just praying we can do a Hull 2nd half like performance throughout the game.

Friday:

Huddersfield v WBA - Away win PLEASE..................................Well who saw that coming? Huddersfield beat the Baggies 2-1 are are now SAFE - yet they sacked their Manager today!


Saturday:

Charlton v Wigan - Draw, 2nd best Charlton win (but only if Wigan's appeal fails) if successful, then 2nd best would be a Wigan win................EXACTLY what we wanted 2-2   

Stoke v Brentford - Away win only.....................................1-0 to the Potters - another shocker (though not to me personally - I had a feeling Stoke were going to win. They too are now SAFE.

Hull v Luton - OBVIOUSLY AWAY Win - anything else and IMHO we are realistically down.   ............................0-1 Lua Lua   

Preston v Birmingham - Home win Only.....................2-0 Preston but thanks to other results Birmingham are SAFE.

Fulham v Sheff Wed - Home Win (bearing in mind an Owls points deduction is looking more of possibility every day, it's just how many points will they be deducted?).....incredible 5-3 Home win. 
Middlesbrough v Cardiff - Away win only.

Sunday:

Barnsley v Nottm Forest - Away win, 2nd best Draw........................1-0 Barnsley, the Tykes live to fight again and take it to the last game.

So here we are. It's all going down the Final match on Wednesday - every single game kicking off at 7.30 pm.



The matches that will either save or relegate us:

Brentford v Barnsley - HOME Brentford win or Draw and Barnsley are down.

Cardiff v Hull - HOME win or Draw and Hull are Down.

Leeds v Charlton - HOME win, or at worst Draw. If we BEAT Blackburn, Luton go above ALL these 3 teams - Charlton, Hull and Barnsley - if the results are as stated by myself here and we would be SAFE - not even having to rely on the Wigan points deduction! 

Luton v Blackburn - Obviously a HOME win will see us safe no matter what and if Charlton & Wigan* fail to win, as well as Middlesbrough and Birmingham if they both lose - we will finish in 19th place three places above the bottom 3. 

Wigan* v Fulham - AWAY win. We will finish above Wigan* if they fail to beat Fulham and we do not lose v Blackburn.

There is even a distinct possibility we could LOSE v Blackburn and STILL stay up!!!  - for that to happen: Wigan* would have to not beat Fulham and both Hull and Barnsley fail to win their games. 

Plus a FURTHER added issue if Sheff Wed are found guilty and suffer points deductions?

This useful analysis is the sort of thing that can get a Hatters fan all hopeful like...Wednesday will be extremely lucky and the FA/EFL sued by Barnsley - if they are let off without at least a 12 point deduction. - and this is where the delayed decision makes them vulnerable to being sued - by either aggrieved party, it will look like they are judging the punishment based entirely on the amount required to tip the balance of relegation one way or another.

this would be intolerable to all sane clubs facing relegation.

anyway - if they do send the Owls down -

18th place here we come!

just a fun thought-
if the EFL were being run by a particularly cruel bunch of arsehats - rather than a just stupid and corrupt set of arsehats,
they could announce that Sheffield Wednesday have been deducted 12 points at around the end of half time on Wednesday evening - with them maybe 2-0 up against Middlesborough...

That would mean they are relegated - no matter if they win,
and Middlesborough would be safe - (with Wigan also down)

If we, Charlton and Barnsley all win (...yes its an odds stretcher, but) and Birmingham lose to Derby...
Birmingham would be down - and they deserve a points deduction for what they did - so zero sympathy there.
and it could be that all three promoted clubs from last year stay up...

The fact remains that the delay in dealing with the Owls is a terrible flawed decision by the EFL - if they don't deduct points Barnsley will sue, if they do deduct points, just enough to send them down, but after Wednesday have played their final game - then Wednesday will sue.

either way it is going to look like the decision was not related to the misdemeanour - but to whether or not it suited the league to get rid of them from the Championship or not.

Arsenal fan club could not have made a worse mistake running the EFL and choosing to delay such a decision.

Well it's all over -
wow.... wow.
and apart from our inability to score a goal and still win 3-2 on the tensest night of the decade - we've seen some very intriguing events:

The table officially shows Wigan down now - they will not win that appeal, the idea of it just ruins everything that we know about how administration can be used by overspending clubs to gain an advantage over their competition.

Nottingham Forest threw away the prize of play-offs they were sure they already had, by overturning a +6GD advantage into a one goal deficit.
Charlton - with Bowyer so certain that Luton and Barnsley were "already relegated" back in February, - are karmically down instead.

We finish above Birmingham, that smells of small justice - and could still see Sheffield Wednesday go down instead of Charlton - but I somehow doubt it.

and for some reason I now am very happy that we drew with Barnsley at home - I would much rather they stayed up after their equally spirited final games, and if we'd beaten them they would be down instead of bully Bowyer.

Next season we will have a refreshed Nathan Jones, believing in his God whilst winding up the opposition benches like a devil...
a smiling Mick Harford - who was massively instrumental in bringing Nathan back and taking us from the low point to the impossible height of survival.
An ethically sound CEO and board made up of fans - bless them all.
and the finances of being in the Championship - which Sir Gary says is about £6million more than being in league One.

It's been a pleasure reading all the witty posts and ups and downs of the old fools around me here -
