First professional contract given to Avan Jones a right back joining the U-23's development team. Good to see another youngster coming through. I know his Dad well, a staunch Bobbers Club member retired ex Luton bus driver at Arriva. Nice bloke, VERY dry witty sense of humour. Pleased for his lad Avan who has been with our academy since 2009 when he was just 7 years old. 👍

I have it on good authority (will never post just 'I heard' things on here) - that one of the players now out of contract has been offered a new one at LTFC & also been offered one by another club who via his Agent, have been chasing him for a while.
The club is Millwall and player Glen Rea.
If what I hear is correct, the figure is WAY above what I'd imagine we could/have offered - in the region of near £10k a week!
It goes without saying I'd love Rea to stay as it was no coincidence that even under GRAEME Jones, let alone Nathan - Rea returning from his injury without a doubt was a major part in helping us to survive!
Sadly, as much as I know Glen loves it at Luton Town and he DOES.............I have no doubt in the role AGENT's play in today's game and that Agent will no doubt be 'advising' him to go the new Den - to get his 'kerching' I mean 'cut'.

Could be sad news Loyal but surely, despite our contempt for agents, it is the player’s decision?

Real shame if it's true about Rea but fully expected. Unfortunately, it was almost a 'Perfect Storm' with regard to Rea - at the time the club should (and probably would) have been discussing any contract extensions, he was seriously injured and/or on the treatment table so it would have become virtually impossible for the club to consider a contract extension with an injured and unproven player (fitness wise at that time). By the time he proved his knee was good enough and strong enough for the rigours of Championship football, it was too late to stop his agent speaking to other clubs.
If he does go (and you certainly cannot blame him if he is offered twice as much as Luton can offer, especially with the uncertainty of wage levels in the game after C19) then he goes with my best wishes as we know he always gave his all for our club. The fact that, during his rehab, he sat with us riff-raff in many of the away ends shows how much he integrated himself with Hatters fans.
Looking at some of the midfielders we have been linked with, this news about Rea from Loyal doesn't really surprise me: a couple of them are holding midfielders. Sadly, I don't know if we can afford the names I heard!
The Charlton lad, for whom we're supposed to have made a £400K offer, looks like he could be a replacement for Berry so I do wonder if Berry may be another who exits stage left ... personally, I hope not!
Looks like musical chairs starts on Saturday 1st August!

Glenn - Boss, I’ve been tempted by the Lions...
Nathan - Bags of cash eh son?
Glenn - what should I do, I so love my club?
Nathan (kissing the badge) it’s a tough one, I’ll pray for you...
....Yes, traffic’s fine, when you get to the Old Kent Road, turn left, Berylson’s office is on the right

"After talks in the wake of the team’s second tier survival with victory over Blackburn Rovers last Wednesday, we can confirm that new contracts have been offered to Luke Berry, Danny Hylton, Elliot Lee, Kazenga LuaLua and Glen Rea to extend their careers at Kenilworth Road.
Jacob Butterfield and Callum McManaman have not been offered renewals and leave the club after one season in Bedfordshire, following their arrivals as free agents last summer."
my only surprise here is Hylton - and wondering how long that and the other contracts will be and what clauses might be attached.

Re. CCV. As has been said on the shout box, Spurs will need to reduce their valuation and he's have to take a massive salary drop to join us. Are both likely? Probably not, but here's hoping anyway.

Why is it considered certain that a player with four first team appearances in his teens, probably in minor competitions, and out on season-long loans for three years since, will be on a massive salary? I don't think the big clubs are so daft that they pay prospects anything like proven first team squad members. If anything, I imagine that it will be the player compromising on the financial side in the hopes of achieving a top level future and the rewards that go with it.

Agree Bram - that it isn't as cut and dried as people assume - especially in a Covid time where clubs like Spurs cannot afford to just keep paying CCV to sit in the squad. THIS is good news as far as I am concerned www.lutontown.co.uk/news/2020/august/elliot-lee-new-deal/and yet if you'd asked me at the end of previous season whether I wanted him to stay I would not have been so sure It's purely the way he's played since NJ came back and trusted him - good running, good tackling and a better "look up" than before.
