QUESTIONS AND (OR NOT AS THE CASE MAY BE) ANSWERS

According to the Philosophers Magazine, “the function of a question is to seek out information” .
In simple terms I suppose that means that you ask a question to find out something you don’t know, or to seek information, which could also be to test someone – for example a question asked in a quiz (where the person knows the answer), or a response in a survey or similar (usually to assist in preparing a report or similar for dissemination. Sometimes a question is asked to start a debate or discussion – eg who was the greatest ..... of all time? (this type of question will usually produce a huge number of responses). In the VAST MAJORITY of cases, the person who asks this question will have his/her own answer ready.
The press, particularly the gutter press, and trouble makers (aka shit stirrers) often ask questions in order to raise suspicion about the person questioned, by asking questions based on premises that may not be correct, may in fact be made up, or are known to be totally BULLSHIT, and/or against the person who is receiving the questions’ beliefs (political, religious, football, life in general).
These questions are designed to create headlines, to make the questioner seem more intelligent, or ‘in the know’ than they really are, to annoy the person being questioned or an attempt to show them up or discredit them.
We constantly criticise the press for the questions they ask and the way they ask them, and subsequently for the reports they make, depending partially on our own views (eg some believe XXX press is totally right (or left) wing and will never see any good, or believe anything said by the left (or right) wing press. Similar occurs when discussing football matches, how often have you read a report or listened to a pundit and thought ‘were they watching the same game as I? – we assume (sometimes correctly) a bias, or an ignorance, or some stirring by the person speaking.
That by the way is a rhetorical question, which means the answer is in the question --- i..e. They were not watching the same game as I”
The views of an individual are naturally going to bias their reporting, and questioning of an issue.
If I ever make a statement on this forum, I will do so knowing I can back it up with facts, and that I am prepared to answer questions asked of me.
If I ever state an opinion on this forum, I usually prefix it with IMHO – so readers know it is an opinion and not a statement of fact.
I acknowledge no one has to answer any questions asked of them.
That is also true of our playing staff, our management, and ‘the owner’ of LTFC.
But if I ask a question, rest assured, “the function of MY question is to seek out information”
