This isn’t a footballing decision but a financial one. I just worry that the bigger picture is that if footballers are contracted to play football, but there isn’t any football...then can we expect a vast vast number of terminated contracts? I for one hope Graeme Jones comes back after the virus stuff goes but i have no doubt that this is the very very beginning.

I for one hope Graeme Jones comes back after the virus stuff goes but i have no doubt that this is the very very beginning. Sadly I think there will be a lot of clubs in real financial trouble over the coming months. Let's hope that today's news strengthens our ability to survive as a viable football club.

i suspect it was on the cards anyway, especially if we get relegated. but nevertheless a courageous move by mr sweet. i decided as a result to do the seat gamble competition to give a bit more money to the club. i wish i hadn't. it took me over half an hour to work out how to do it and a headache from staring at the screens --i tried on 3 different machines--i daresay ill be putting my hand in my pocket a few more times for ltfc before this lockdown ends.

going to take a minor miracle to get Newlands Park off the ground now - and thus Power Court too. there won't be any government assistance for projects such as these. never mind the potential savings of ending the management team's contracts - we have so many contracts that are going to kill us if we don't get an income stream by September. I am really worried actually - this could be an absolute nightmare for 20-20

well done rutland hatter for having a go at the seat competition, and to anyone else who has a go.. my pockets are absolutely empty but looking onwards- the stadium is so close, i also think GJ was getting things right when we stopped playing the ball out from the goalkeeper. Sluga looks a decent goalie now too. It’s just hard (for everyone) to look too far forwards. I hope we all stay safe and things will ease up soon. xx

If most of the managerial team/coaches have gone for good, does that suggest that the Club believes/knows that this season is finished without any "behind closed doors" games being played. Without the group that has gone, how would we be able to start playing again at short-notice?
No doubt I am over-looking something glaringly obvious!

I think our dream of the new Stadium has disappeared...Maybe Luton Town F.C. can sell Power Court and raise enough money to build the Stadium on the land they own at Newlands...Ideally it would be wonderful if it could be the other way round !!...Or...Sell both plots of land, and rebuild the Kenny ? I was never a fan of GJ...but I wish him and all the others who have departed, all the best of health and luck in the future !

The reason for Newlands was to provide a permanent revenue stream to ensure the viability of the football club so without it, Power Court is presumably dead. It's probably both or neither. I have always liked the idea of redeveloping Kenilworth Road, from the days when a new cantilever stand (whatever that is) was lauded years ago. To make this worthwhile then the development would have to incorporate some blue sky thinking to get a music venue, leisure facilities, retail, hotel rooms, et al all on a very small site. I bet those clever architects that developed Abu Dhabi coupled with the Sheikh's money could manage it.

This is deadly serious Whatever Ground option that we fans might prefer - I think the financial position of 2020 is broken by the elimination of Newlands Park as a key domino in the chain. and other dominoes are already wobbling anyway.
The costs of redeveloping the Kenny have been gone into many times and I believe Gary Sweet when he says those options simply do not stand up. (e.g. to get the essential income generating increased capacity requires incredibly expensive and difficult compulsory purchase of housing stock and the site has many huge disadvantages other than that. If LTFC survive it will be by consolidating in an almost miraculous manner.
The virus crisis is in danger of actually killing football as we know it. I don't think the decision to drop the most expensive half of the management team will even be seen as a debatable issue when the gravity of what may well happen becomes more apparent. as Gary said in his video for the press - there's no point in Luton surviving if the league doesn't survive - we would have no survival place to play.
Luton losing the new ground, with all the committed costs already gone out, could well lead to administration - and we would then need "a new 2020" - and all dreams of new ground development would be on hold for as long as a decade... and I think that might be best case scenario. - if other clubs are in worse shape than Luton (and quite a lot are) so that some will almost certainly not survive, then what the heck is the next season going to consist of? Bury going will be seen as just the crack in the dam. I hate being a Mr Negative, but having listened to what Gary said on the 15th April I really do fear for the future of the current football family structure...

cheer up, chaps. i accept the service industries are those whose future is most precarious at present but once this is all over we will still want to stay in hotels, have a bit of retail therapy etc. it might be that the offer at newlands has to be tweaked but after being in lockdown and socially distanced for months and months we will, as human beings, want to gather together. it will take some time to actually build newlands and power court, and that's once the building industry gets back up an running so by the time it is ready demand for it will have returned. have faith. coyh

Glad I'm not the only one rutland. Three times I've tried to buy tickets for it and gave up. I seem to get all the way through the process, but it simply will not let me click on the seat I want!! I trust this is open to ALL fans and not just those who are lucky enough to be in a financial position to renew ST's now?
