Still planning to renew my season ticket but like many, have some concerns about returning to a KRoad in the same state we left it, in relation to all things hygiene.
Was wondering if Gary and co are giving serious thought to trying to upgrade the existing facilities to try to make the return of fans, particularly those who are more elderly and vulnerable, a more attractive proposition?
If a new ground was some way off before all this, it is self evidently much further away now. The immediate development and improvement of KRoad may prove money well spent. Failure to act will inevitably result in folk staying away- there may be no choice but to invest in the old place to make it much cleaner and safer?
What do others think?

In the current circumstances, unless 2020 sell their souls, Power Court is receding into the distance. So, yes I hope the Kenny gets a refurb. I just wonder where the money will come from? I am afraid that 2020 may lose interest.

Failure to act will inevitably result in folk staying away- there may be no choice but to invest in the old place to make it much cleaner and safer? What do others think? I started worrying about Kenilworth Road when I reached my late teens which over the years has increased and decreased. My first worry was the wooden stand which became less of a worry when smoking was banned. Another worry was when the underneath of the main stand was boxed in for bars and you couldn't exist the ground from both directions. The hated, although maybe necessary fences were a worry and thankfully all grounds have moved on from that. The gent's toilets have always been a total disgrace, surely in the first quarter of the 21st Century there is an easy solution for 'overflowing'. Hot water and an ample supply of soap would obviously also help the ambience, but replenishing before half time would be appreciated. Unfortunately, as long as plans are in place to build a new stadium, then Kenilworth Road is unlikely to receive any investment, only that necessary to maintain its safety certificate. Admission prices to the ground are probably very low compared to other Championship or aspiring Championship clubs which means that there is not a lot of fat on the bone for comforts. I'm looking forward to a new stadium but realistically have some doubt about being fit enough to attend, especially now with a likely further delay. So the 'old girl' is what we've got, I've put up with it for over 60 years, the various ideas over the years, a new cantilever main stand, the Kohler Dome, a double decker on the Bobbers, MK (glad that one wasn't progressed), the plastic pitch and the beach huts. I'm told that as one gets older you start to shrink, hopefully won't be much longer before I'm comfortable in the main stand.

Cheer up, chaps. When all this lock down is over the Government will have to stimulate the economy and infrastructure is this Government's favoured way. I would therefore expect to see some sort of loan scheme with low interest rates for infrastructure projects. Also, the Council is supportive of LTFC and the Council is currently responsible for delivering a lot of the Government's coronavirus policies so will be in a good position (quid pro quo) to lobby Government for such schemes after all this is over.

Liz the wooden stand has always been a fire hazard in my mind smoking or non smoking. Let's hope it never happens and that the fire safety precautions are tiptop. As for the toilets they are a disgrace, but not brilliant at other away grounds I've been to over the years. Charltons aren't great and at Pompey and they've been in the Premiership in recent years. I would imagine that the Oak Road away end toilet facilities are better than the home ends. Only up to a thousand fans to use them. Maybe Greeno knows? Is there space to build new toilets for the Main Stand, probably not with food stalls etc taking up room. At Half time an area for smokers is opened up, maybe a toilet block could be erected in that space. It could also be used for fans before they enter the ground before kick off.

Thanks for the comments everyone There are no easy solutions and as Liz remarked, the club will probably simply adhere to the legal minimum. But it’s not inconceivable that there will be emergency hygiene legislation in relation to future large public gatherings (ie football grounds) so clubs may have no choice to comply or face losing their licence.
Shatter, Have never understood allowing anyone to smoke anywhere near the ground - we’ve all seen fans attempting to conceal lighted cigarettes as they move to and from the current ‘designated’ area. It would seem possible to provide some extra loo capacity in the external area, maybe for those of a certain age and above - imagine how long the queue will take to go down 😀
Wish I shared your optimism about all things NP and PC, Rutland. Gov tax revenue is going to take a massive hit whilst at the same time they have to borrow and use reserves to finance Corana- Aid (sounds like a new drink!). Yes, interest rates are and will stay low but this is no giveaway - everyone will face higher taxes as a result. Unemployment in the US is soaring and Recession is looking more likely on a daily basis. Ironically, the Chinese economy has fared much better - maybe the best chance of future investment will lie there.
We may yet unveil The Wuhan Stadium in Luton 😀

Just to add to our joys (?) I remember having a conversation with LTFC Mick about the roof above the Oak Road stand, we both agreed it was made principally of, wait for it, asbestos ! Hopefully in the not too distant future we will have Power Court up and running. Meanwhile keep your distance, keep smiling, stay well. Best wishes from Down Under, COYH Cheers, Tassie.

I fully agree with all comments re hygiene. Currently the facilities are a disgrace and I agree with Shatter, if they are not improved then some fans will vote with their feet. I htink that there is a real possibility that some clubs (I do not think LTFC will) will have to consider and ultimately be forced into going "Part Time" in order to survive and remain in the EFL.

Maybe we will be able to put in 2 "safe standing areas"...Main stand nearest to the Oak Rd end...and possibly part of the Kenny end,and the bit under the D.P. stand, which possibly could increase gates by 2,000 or more ?

My understanding of 'safe standing' Tony is that it takes up as much room as seats, as basically it is a seat secured in the upright position with a crash bar in front of the standing fan. Think the only way to increase capacity at Kenilworth Road is to build another wing stand between the terrace and the huts or perhaps, as mentioned many times, double decker at the Oak Road end or one above the beach huts. Time and money forbids both.

All this nonsense talk about safe standing and hygiene ... above all else, I hope they sort out the heating in the boxes, a couple of times I went in at halftime and the temperature wasn’t quite to my liking, in fact there was one particular game when I had to keep my jacket on for the duration of the break.
