Here are the results of the 3rd Round of the Spike Bobberman Cup.
Top scorers this round were ikjp and Smudger, who both had correct half-time and full-time scores. A special mention also for Make Emile of It, the only player to get a point for Semi Ajayi’s goal. And for once, every tie was decided without the need for a penalty shoot-out.
There were a couple of giant-killings as Lake and Lizard were both soundly beaten by League 1 opposition, but the other Premier League heavyweights, the high-scoring Smudger and ikjp, both saw off their lower league opponents. Samsolihullhatter’s total of 5 means he was unlucky to have come up against the round’s top scorer, and it leaves Jnr as the last surviving member of the Solihull clan; he goes through courtesy of a blank from TerriblyBritish (that’s what comes of relying on your other half to post your predictions, I guess…). The League 1 battle between Batch996 and Offpat went in favour of Batch (Offpat being just that bit too pessimistic), whilst in the all-Championship tie Biscotboy triumphed over Sphatter. There is a very good chance of a lower-league player getting their name on the Cup this season.
Congratulations to the winners who’ve made it through to reach the quarter-final stage, and commiserations to the unlucky losers.
Please check your score and let me know by PM of any discrepancies or queries by Friday 7th February. The 4th Round will take place on Saturday 29th February on our league game at home to Stoke City. Look out for the draw and predictions thread, which will be posted at least a week before.
