Points Target For The First 10 Games of The 2016/17 Season

For whatever reason, I reckon that we need at least 10 games to be played into each new season before we can get a flavour of how things may start to pan out during the season.
Last year I felt I would have been happy with 15 points from the first 10 games. As it happens we managed 14 points after a slow "JS" start. This season after 8 games we are at 13 points compared to 8 points at the same 8 game stage last season; so progress possibly although some supporters are understandably frustrated as we have suffered two away defeats at really poor, in my opinion anyway, league 2 sides in Stevenage and Crawley; also throw into that group the home defeat against a rather hungry Grimsby.
This pre-season I started to become modestly more ambitious about the points target for our first 10 games and upped my wish from 15 points to 16 points from the first 10 of 2016/17. Admittedly not a massively ambitious target but there again to my view with a group of fairly young players forming into a team, that's fine. For me, the important thing is not to be playing catch up forever in the season.
It's also worth remembering that last year's run-away of league 2, Northampton, only managed 15 points from the first 10 games and also like us, they had 13 points from their first 8 games. Given that as a measure and given the fact that Nathan Jones is a young manager still very much learning his trade, maybe some of our LTFC supporters should not be overly down at the moment even after back to back defeats.
