As the decision announcement on our proposed plans has been cancelled due to objections from Bedford, Im guessing it may well be deferred till next spring / summer. I spoke with Mark Rivers who I believe sits on the planning committee last week and he said until all new objections were looked into no new announcement date would be considered, but seemed to hint that there could be more objections on the way. Even though the impact survey has basically come down on our side of the fence, I pointed out that the Council could possibly just point the objectors in the direction of the findings but was told that they were all entitled to take their objections to a higher level and basically ignore the findings. I think this will all turn into a very long drawn out saga.

The decision announcement was NOT cancelled because of objections from Bedford. It was because of the length of time the independent final impact survey took in coming back to the council.
I disagree with your opinion that this will turn out into a ' very long drawn out saga' and most certainly - disagree with 'it will be next spring/summer'
Nowt like doom and gloom to start the season eh.

Thanks Lutonloyal. It does not make sense that Bedford can come in at this late state and cause a delay to spring. It would mean any Tom Dick or Harry could object at any time and cause a delay. Surely there must be some deadline in place for objections.

There was a disquieting interview on 3cr this morning between Justin Dealey and a spokesman for C&R, who have produced their own impact statement and guess what, it envisages 20% impact on the town centre, rather than the 2/4% envisaged by the independent assessment.
He was also very dismissive of JD's reports of the views of Arndale tenants, saying that most are against the club's plans.

Yes all of this by a PR Consultant, NOT a direct C&R employee! In the immortal words of Mandy Rice Davies - well he would say that wouldn't he.

Worth a look on Outlaws where the PR company are discredited in a BIG way!

If I was a Councillor, I would be very mindful of the people who had voted me into office, to turn these proposals down would surely be political suicide ! It's not just about the regeneration of the Town centre and all the positive gains from that, but they can also put the old Kenilworth Road site to such good use !

Of which thanks to some through research by a few excellent Outlaws Posters - they have uncovered disturbing evidence on this consultant. One who specialises in sending fake letters to newspapers/media and most startling of all...........went around interviewing many Arndale shopkeepers asking firstly before interviewing them ' Do you or any members of your family follow Luton Town FC?'.............any who replied yes..........he walked on by to the next shop. We are at War with these people make no mistake.

and doing the Lansdowne's bit for #saveourtown I've sent the petition out to all Lansdowne Members with email accounts. #saveourtown Please forgive me, but it is something I feel passionately about. Luton is where I grew up and although now living in Leighton Buzzard, still think of Luton as my Town. The company who own the Mall, Capital & Regional are intent on stopping the building of a new Football Stadium on the derelict site of Power Court and a leisure, business and high-end retail development on land adjoining junction 10 of the M1. Both tracts of land are owned by Luton Town Football Club. 11,000 letters and emails of support for the development were received by the Council, Luton Borough Council support the plans as do both our local Members of Parliament. Please check out the link below, if you agree please sign the petition and Lansdowne Club Members can play a part in #saveourtown. Thanks Dave K www.change.org/p/lawrence-hutchings-capreg-com-stop-capital-regional-from-blocking-a-bright-new-future-for-luton
