Palace hold the record for the most points for a relegated Premier League club with 49 (although that was in a 42-game season in 1992–93).

Boycie was a big favourite whilst at Palace. Here’s a bit of trivia Luton are the 56th different team that Roy Hodgson has faced as a Premier League manager, equalling Arsene Wenger's record. Won’t post the (apparent) fact that it’s been the worst ever start to a season for us 😁 Enjoy the game!

Ter-rif- ic!!!! So many highlights - Barkley, Kaminski, Mengi’s opener, Olise’s stunner and best of all, a Man City like second goal featuring Ogbene and Brown Three points, two goals from open play and we won without Issa and Marvelous. And isn’t VAR great 😁 Well done to all on and off the pitch today COYH

If Barkley carries on like that and we'll be welcoming Southgate into Kenilworth Road. Obviously man of the match but only just. Equal marks for Ogbene and Kaminski for me.
My only criticism is a reluctance to have a go from outside the penalty area. I only counted one today from Bell and I think Pelly turned down a good chance to shoot but preferred the pass.
Everton to lose tomorrow and it's been the perfect weekend.

Faneffingtastic performance after growing into the game. Many, many plaudits for so many players out there but even more must go to our recruitment team: Lockyer + Osho + Mengi + Clark + Ogbene + Barkley + Burke + Townsend + Bell = £0 transfer fees. Add the 'nominal' fees paid for Pelly + Potts + Adebayo + Doughty and the total for those 13 outfield players gets to just over seven figures. And none of them are being embarrassed against players who cost gazillions.
We all know that our club ethics are heavily based upon team application over individual talent so we are unlikely to see any of our squad doing what Olise did any time soon. Yes, it would be nice if we could land a player who could, individually, turn a game on its head (maybe he is already here in the guise of Barkley) but, at present, we just have to compete through organisation, fitness, grit and determination ... and more than a pinch of luck.
I opined after the Man United defeat that one enjoyment I have been getting from this season despite multiple defeats is seeing tangible improvements in individual players: yesterday's performances from Osho and Mengi were yet more steps up their career ladders. Both were frighteningly effective in what they did to break up opposition attacks. My fear that Burke's absence would seriously handicap our defence has, so far, been unfounded - so much so that it looks like one of Mengi, Osho or Lockyer would need to be injured or suspended for Burke, Andersen or Bell to play in central defence.
Osho is fast becoming my first name on the teamsheet - he has clearly been given some man-marking roles after his reintroduction at Villa and he has ridiculously comfortably coped with players of the calibre of Salah, Hoijburg, Olise, Eze. A mate reckoned that his style and physique suits the PL more than the EFL where big chunky forwards barrel themselves into aerial challenges with little concern about who may be impacted! Having noted that, Osho's determination and timing to outjump and beat one of Palace's big CBs after he was sent upfield to rescue a point was great to see.
Mengi gradually gets better game by game. Maybe RE being forced by injuries into selecting the same combinations is helping the situation - consistently playing Mengi, Lockyer and Osho was probably more important yesterday as the FBs had to play musical chairs. Mengi did everything solidly as far as I can remember - all you can ask for is reliability and consistency and he is shaping up to be another great acquisition.
Any worries? Yes! We all know that Bell became a different player when he was asked to be a left sided CB in a back three. He didn't fill me with confidence when being played as LB or LWB. Okay, Bell didn't really make any major faux pas but neither did he make me think RE should persist with him there unless under massive duress. I suppose Giles was the only other left footed option to Bell at LB. TBH, my choice for Brentford (if Kabore is still unavailable) would be Doughty at LB and Ogbene at RB - Brentford have very fast and skillful wingers and I fear for Bell in a defensive LB role down there. I don't particularly want to lose Ogbene's attacking prowess/pace but he showcased his versatility with the utterly sublime pass to Brown for the winner - that indicated that he can be just as dangerous from RB as he was on the left flank.
Pelly was solid enough; Barkley was our focal point and conduit for everything going forward; Morris slightly disappointing but isolated so he is doing a bloody hard job when the rest of the team are so far away; Kaminski getting more and more difficult to beat (just a shame about the distance he gets from his fly kicks!)
All in all, a TEAM performance with many individual 8 out of 10s. The sum of the parts and all that!
COYH.
