Alan has been with us on various LTFC sites for many years now and was a very proactive member. His knowledge of games and players was second to none and was always a go to if you needed any club or player query. In writing his book he demonstrated his total commitment as a fan and supporter and it is a superb read for anyone whether reading for the first time or revisiting again. To say he was larger than life probably understates his joie de vivre but he never let his social time at games particularly away be bland. Those who were participant in his "Alan Adair Tours" at Blackpool can probably elaborate a little more than me as I unfortunately never managed to be on one. Suffice it to say anecdotal evidence suggests this would be an example that he has lived his life to the full. I would also give thanks we had a good friendship that will always be fondly remembered. As a member of the Fool, his memory will be preserved in a forthcoming section of our board to ensure his name will always be with us. RIP Alan, you were special.

I didn't know Alan well, but he was good friends with some of my relatives. When my uncle passed away 9 years ago, Alan said some nice words about him on this very site. A great loss to the LTFC family.
RIP LutonLoyal.

Steve, that’s an excellent tribute to Alan, we will all miss that orange suit and hat at away games not to mention the end-of-season fancy dress. RIP Alan, a true Hatter.

I didn’t know Alan at all well but I’ll always associate him with key moments in recent LTFC history, and the 262 and Fools forums
I first recall speaking to Alan outside Fratton Park, probably March 2015. He was smiling and gave me a look which seemed to exude a ‘been there, done it, got the tshirt’ in relation to all things LTFC which of course, I later discovered, he had - but without a shred of pomposity. Our smiles were also about it being the first season back in the football league - big grounds and teams like Pompey again! I’m not sure at which point to came to realise that person was Luton Loyal. Like many of us who go back to 262, I always enjoyed his match day contributions which were crammed with interesting stats and facts from previous encounters, and also his passionate but measured post match comments.
My best memory to share was before, during and after the game at Accy almost four years ago. It was a very hot day and as we arrived at our posh hotel, the LTFC squad were returning from a pre match walkabout. Once we had checked in, we ventured outside and encountered a group of Town fans enjoying a prematch beer or two. Alan was prominent ast them, resplendent in a white shirt and shorts - there was a lot of great banter about our respective attire, the heat, the match and most importantly, our almost certain promotion to the Championship as Champions. I remember seeing Alan at the game - he was sitting in the sun at the front of our stand. The word entertaining barely describes that game as those present will testify. Back at the hotel after the game, more drink was taken, both in celebration and to alleviate our spectacular sunburn.

Alan's family have shared full details of his funeral on Facebook. For the obvious reason of preventing overcrowding, they don't want these posted all over the internet, but are happy for any of his friends to attend if they wish to pay their respects, and for the details to be passed on to anyone in that category who is not on Facebook. So if any of his friends on here do want them, I'll be glad to send them in a PM.
They're hoping to arrange a webcast of the funeral but there aren't details of this yet. I'll keep my eyes open for them as I'm sure some would appreciate being able to "attend" virtually.

The first time I spoke to Alan was at an away game in Carlisle, I've a friend whose father was Alans fathers business partner in Luton. Although Alan was younger than me it turned out that as he returned from Australia I went to Australia, so we chatted about our experiences down under. BMS mentioned a match at Accy and whether it was the same one my memory was at half time Alan in his orange suit and hat leading a Luton sing song with a dozen or so Town supporters. Great bloke I will miss the short match day chats with him usually started with a smiling hello Shatter.

If anyone would like the link to the webcast, let me know between now and 4pm. Again, due to viewing limits, they've asked for the link not to be posted online, but it can be shared with friends who would like to view. It will also be available for viewing for a period afterwards.
