The team travel to the North West today for their match with Preston. We have the chance of extending our four match unbeaten run, while Preston need a result to stop their recent poor run. Their top scorer Ched Evans is serving a four match ban so will not be available. Our new player Cody is out with a knock picked up in training, but Potts is traveling so may be available in defence. Following our huge traveling contingent to Covy a crowd of 400 is expected tonight at Deepdale respect! COYH!
Any Trivia gladly welcome.👍

Just about to embark on my 5th visit to Deepdale and I've not seen a single point there thus far. Ditto shadylane (though too ill to travel) My four visits are: 1980-81, Div 2 PNE 1 Luton 0 1998-99, Div 2 (old Div 3) PNE 2 Luton 1 2019-20 Championship (old Div 2) PNE 2 Luton 1 2021-22 Championship (old 2) PNE 2 Luton 0. Though I did see Preston lose 2-0 to Hartlepool in Div 2 (old 3) on their plastic pitch in 1992-93 when I was up on a family Blackpool Illuminations weekend.

I sadly had some really bad news with my health yesterday. Unfortunately there will not be many more Luton away games I can add to my 681 attended since the first in 1968 - a Div Three 1-0 defeat at Watford.
The only way I can go now if well enough to travel, is by getting a lift from friends.
Hopeful and doing my hardest to attend at Birmingham next week, Sunderland on Mar 15, the one I want to the most as it's a new ground for me - Rotherham on Apr 15 and if possible Blackburn last away game Apr 29th ? - unless of course there is a Play Off Semi Final again.

So sorry to hear this Al, sending lots of love and hoping you stay as well as possible. I’m going to this one and like Shady have never seen us get any points at Deepdale so fully expecting them to turn their bad run around! Think we did win there with no fans in, though, iirc, so fingers crossed…

Strange thing football; NJ played good open football using wing backs as we rose through the leagues then the last two seasons went to long-ball. Edwards mixes things a lot more and it’s a much prettier style of football to watch; sensibly playing down the wings & mixing some long ball; all much prettier on the eye.
Of course, we should have won last night had we converted the various chances we had but that’s the way it goes. Two away points from Coventry & Preston is not a bad return.
I thought we had some very good performances last night with stand-out players IMO being Gabe Osho, Clarke & Nakamba. Nakamba just does his job quietly and effectively closing down, nothing flashy but just what we need in that deep midfield position. It seems to give the likes of Clarke more time to do the creative stuff; hope we have Clarke on a new contract! I thought that Gabe Osho had one of his very best games for us last night; may well be maturing into a gifted and fast centre-back.
Should also mention Fred who created some chances with that fast play down the wing & Bell who looked very comfortable on the ball.

Despite my frustration, I thought we played well. Comfortably the better side before our goal, didn't panic once in front, passed it out of defence looking for counter attacks.
But PNE had one chance at KR and made it count. We had plenty last night, made one count but couldn't hold on v 10 men who were out of form. We find ways to throw away 1-0 leads.

I know this is not the right kind of trivia but games against Preston always remind me of a game, back in the fifties it must have been, when we were at home to them and Tom Finney was playing on the right wing. I was in the Oak Road end which was packed. Finney got the ball on the halfway line and headed in a straight line towards our near post. A Luton defender, can’t remember who, was blocking his way so Finney dropped his shoulder without touching the ball and faked the defender clean out of the way. He almost left his boots behind!
The ball trundled on and Finney………….. I don’t know what happened next because about 150 of us in the crowd took the dummy as well and we all fell over to our left and struggled back up with lots of laughter and red faces. Football in the days of the entertainers - don’t we miss it?
