Here are the results of the 3rd Round of the Spike Bobberman Cup.
I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced a round of the cup where absolutely no-one gained a single point at half-time or full-time, but that was the case today. Adebayo’s penalty rescued the majority, whilst the three who also had Jordan Clark as a scorer (Shatter2, Somethinggood and Biscot Boy) were joint top scorers with 2 and all won their ties. Irchesterhatter deserves a mention, too, for getting a point from Clifton’s goal for Grimsby. And thanks to Casselhatter for honesty in not including scorers when posting late and thereby sparing me any difficult decision: it did mean you went out, though, as Bloodorange's single point came from the scorer.
With so many ending up with 1 point, 3 ties went to penalties, and as everyone had under-estimated today’s impressive attendance, the higher figure won in each case, with Greenwoman, Jeros and Bernardshakey edging out Dubaihatter, Irchesterhatter and Lizard respectively (Greenwoman claiming her second Premier League scalp in a row with another impressive giant-killing).
Congratulations to the winners on reaching the quarter-final stage, and even greater commiserations than usual to the losers in a round of such fine margins.
Please check your score (it shouldn’t take you long!) and let me know by PM of any discrepancies or queries by next Friday 3rd February. The 4th Round is subject to our replay with Grimsby: should we go through, it will be played on the FA Cup 5th Round in the midweek on or around 1st March. If the Hatters are out of the Cup it will be played on Birmingham away on February 25th. I’ll update once this is resolved, and whenever it is, the draw and predictions thread will be posted a week beforehand.
Edit: the 4th Round will be played on the Hatters' Championship game away at Birmingham City on February 25th. The draw and predictions thread will be posted a week beforehand.
