Our third home game on the bounce tomorrow when we welcome Rovers to the Kenny. New manager Dane Jon Tomasson took over from Tony Mowbray and has started the season well with his team in third place. On paper a more difficult game than Wigan and Coventry but you never know with "our" lot! COYH!

Thanks Liz who's the player at the bottom? Derek Fazackerley. I included him as in 2000 he was a coach with Kevin Keegan's England squad when they played a friendly in Malta prior to the Euros. They stayed in the same hotel as Sue and me were holidaying in. Spent a couple of days on adjacent sunbeds with him, Kevin, Peter Beardsley and Ray Clemance. Ray and Peter emptied our sun lotion bottle and Peter gave us complimentary tickets for the match. David Beckham was sent back to his bedroom because he was getting too much sun.

Today will be my 1,936th Luton game attending and 1,259th at Kenilworth Road. It will be the 11th time I'd have seen Blackburn play at the shrine from 1970 - 2022. My record is pretty good:
Played 10, Won 6, Drew 3 Lost One - that being a 0-4 FA Cup tanking in 2007!
Hate to tempt fate, (stand corrected if wrong) but here goes - it is my belief we have never lost a home league match vs Blackburn Rovers at Kenilworth Road!

I can't make today, which usually guarantees a cracking game, so fingers crossed...

Here’s the reason we won today, never mind the team selection or tactics. I parked in my usual lucky place but walked in a slightly different lucky route , entered through a different lucky turnstile and had a lucky different pie: end of.

First things first. Could the EFL explain to us why Luton always gets a dodo for a referee. It can't possibly be a coincidence. The one today excelled in his total uselessness which was only exceeded by his linesmen.
The first half had a goalless draw written all over it, the second was an entertainment feast. We got 2 goals up and then Nathan takes off a defender and puts on another centre forward, strange but fortunately that was not enough time left for it to be a disaster.
Morris was awesome, Bell probably had his best game of the season, I'm hoping we see more of Woodrow and Burke is the best centre back we have. Oh and he probably just about deserved the Man of the Match for a magnificent goal scored with his wrong foot. Not quite in the McNulty class but not an everyday occurrence from a centre back.

Burke is a rolls royce of a defender how the hell did he hit a shot like that with the vaunted Brereton-Diaz in his pocket.

Remember winning 1-0 up there, Noel Brotherston was playing for them, out and out winger, anyway we totally outplayed them and finally got the winner, might have been Ricky. Then on the platform supporter saying how unlucky they had been when 1-0 flattered them. Funny how we each see it. Then we had the 3-2 win, one shot on target 2 ogs and Nathan sprinting around the pitch as we stayed up. Harry was my hero that night, made all the difference. Derek Fazackerley yes what a good and loyal servant to his club. Sorry bit late with this stuff especially after a great result to reflect on today.

Cracking second half especially, thoroughly deserved 3 points. A rarely criticise referees because it’s a near on impossible job, but today there some unfathomable decisions. Reece Burke, as I’ve read elsewhere, what a Rolls Royce of a player we have there. Carlton Morris is exciting to watch, what a hard worker and some marvellous touches. Well done lads.

That's our good record intact. We've still never ever lost at home to Blackburn Rovers in the league. I believe that was the 22nd clash - 13 wins and 9 draws.
Throughly enjoyed yesterdays's performance, result and goals. I agree with Liz, thought Bell had his best game in a Luton shirt. As much as I like Sonny, Lockyer HAS to remain in his place. Burke was excellent but despite his beauty of a goal, my personal MOTM was Clark. Every player performed. Brilliant display, especially 2nd half.
Just shows what a win can do for spirits - moved up a staggering seven places to 11th and we are now just a point behind W**ford.
Crisis, what Crisis?

For the first time ever I heard my other half criticise a referee --and he enjoyed the game, second half at least. He took Jess' ticket as she was at a hen do. It wasn't Greeno's "lucky" tactics but my other half being there that was the lucky omen!
The ref was dismal and we kept fighting. Deserved the result.

Thankfully we played well in the 2nd. half after being completely outplayed in the 1st. Once we were leading 2-0 Blackburn looked absolutely deflated. IMO this was the ideal opportunity to give Watson a run out, he was impressive in the pre season matches and was rated highly by Rooney at Derby. Instead we send on the old guard as usual. Due to injuries we are short of midfield players surely we have to start blooding young players otherwise our future will be bleak. We cannot keep on signing old injury prone players whose legs have gone or on the edge of going. We could have kept back Freeman and used him if necessary. There are players in the Premier Div. who are 22 yrs of age and full internationals. Arsenal even gave a few minutes to a 15 yr. old schoolboy. We are sending out players of 23 on loan to get experience. Luton have always historically bred and developed young players and saved money by doing so as well as strengthening the team. If NJ is not prepared to do this then we will suffer in the long term due to short term decisions.
