With seven points from a possible nine the Town welcome the Tics to Kenilworth Road tomorrow. We are still looking for our first home win so should be a good opportunity to remedy the situation. Wigan have just invested in a midfielder from Lincoln who has scored plenty of goals in over a hundred games for the Imps. Will he start tomorrow? Lets hope we can start with the same lineups from our last two games. COYH!! Wigan Trivia. Wigan became a League team for the first time in 1978. There was no promotion/relegation from league to non league back then teams had to be re-elected. Southport were bottom of Division 4 and lost the vote with Wigan who won 29 votes 20.

Tomorrow will be my 1,935th Luton game attending and the 1,258th at Kenilworth Road.
I've seen us play the Latics at Kenilworth Road seven times from 1978 (the season they joined the FL in place of Southport) to 2019. My current standings at the shrine: 3 Luton wins, two draws and 2 defeats.
For any interested, here are the seven to date:
1978-79 League Cup 2, Luton 2 (Brian Stein 2) WAFC 0 Att: 6,618
1987-88 League Cup 2 2nd leg, Luton 4 ( Mick Harford 3, Darren McDonough) WAFC 2 (5-2 aggregate) Att: 4,227
1997-98 Div 2 (old Div 3) Luton 1 ( David Oldfield0 WAFC 1 Att: 4,403
1998-99 Div 2 (old 3) Luton 0 WAFC 4 Att: 4,934

I’ll always associate playing Wigan with the first Covid lockdown - yes, it was an away game, on March 7th 2020. I remember being v apprehensive about the whole thing for obvious reasons. The game was hugely uneventful but we secured a previous point in what turned out to be GJ’s last game in charge. I remember a strong left sided player for Wigan! It was our last game until we resumed BCD against Preston on 20th June. On 23rd March we were all told to stay at home and the overwhelming majority of the country adhered to the rules to the letter, despite some agonising decisions for many. GJ was sacked on April 24 and was replaced by NJ on 28th May, and 22nd July saw us hanging onto Championship status on the final day of the season.

Right, while I'm still seething, here goes.
Nathan's game changers worked well today, 3 points to Wigan, take a hard look at yourself Nathan, 1 - 0 is not the time to start messing about with a team that is winning with still a lot of time to play. Make sure of the points first.
Cameron Jerome again missed a golden chance when it was easier to score or alternatively pass to someone completely in the clear. Jerome really should consider retiring into walking football, he can't hack it at this level.
The sponsors made Lockyer man of the match, says everything, a defender in a home match and I can't argue with their selection.
Nothing positive to say other than there's a whole week before we play again.

I felt we lost to a classic away performance again. Much like Preston it seemed inevitable which is a worry. It does seem odd the manager made so many changes today. I'd say we should have buried Wigan in the first half but football isn't like that. I definitely think there are some positives. Osho was very good on the ball, Clark is playing well, Freeman has a brilliant set piece delivery, Campbell is playing well and Morris looks like he is a very good striker. I don't like to single players out for criticism but Elijah is really struggling. I actually think he is a better player when we play into his feet but I do wonder if teams single him out but he looks less aggressive this season. Let's hope we can bounce back next week.

i put the blame entirely at Natham's door.He took the whole midfield off when we we were winning and they looked toothless and then tool off the one man holding the ball up (Morris). With so many changes we lost our shape for their winner we had 8 men forward and only 3 back with no midfield.

I am always happy to give credit to Nathan when he gets his subs right but yesterday he made a complete mess of things dumping the midfield late in the game & quite honestly was outsmarted by the Wigan manager. Morris was playing well so, why take him off and bring on Jerome? Jerome was a great championship player in his '20s but now @ 36 the brain is there but not the legs. I thought Campbell still had fuel in the tank. Never mind, we will win in England one day this season.

Oh Woe is us. We watch our team dominate and control a game but fail to convert chances that would surely have guaranteed victory. In a bizarre intervention, NJ removes those most likely to create that second goal and help to prevent an equaliser, just as Leam Richardson introduces pace and renewed vigour into our opponents. Problem compounded by the apparent absence of a team shape and clear role for those newly introduced Town players and those left over from the starting 11. We plummet from 6th to 16th. Oh Woe is us.
