Our last trip to the West tonight when we take on the Bluebirds in "Gods own Country" as NJ calls it. They are having the same trouble as us scoring, having had 21 shots on goal at the weekend against "Clean Sheet Preston" they've scored one less than us. Manager Steve Morison is looking to sign a striker before the window closes but I think it's too late for tonights match. Good luck to those travelling bring back some points please! COYH!! Open floor for Trivia thanks.

Very close in the head to head:
games won: 24 games lost: 23 drawn: 17
first game: 1931, won 2 - 1 last game: 1922, won 1 - 0
biggest win: 1932 and 1937, 8 - 1 biggest loss: 2020, 4 - 0
those Luton lads in the 1930's could play a bit.

I'm afraid I won't be adding to my Six Cardiff v Luton fixtures attended tonight.
Four at Ninian Park - not a ground for the feint hearted :
1979-80 Div 2 CCFC 2 Luton 1 ( Bob Hatton) Att: 9,420 -
Morning kick off because of the Welsh Rugby later that day at Cardiff Arms Park. How we didn't win this is a mystery. Big Bob Hatton gave us a 1-0 lead, Mike Saxby had an effort cleared off the line and in the words of David Pleat - " David Moss could & should have had 4 goals - three from the penalty spot" - oh and we stopped off at Bristol Rovers 2 Notts County 3 on the way home! My 4th and final Eastville visit.
1980-81 Div 2 CCFC 1 Luton 0 Att: 6,064 -
My mate Mick Tearle and I stayed the night in Cardiff at a Welsh pal's of his. We thought we'd sit in the stand behind the goal to avoid being kept in for an age post match with the other Hatters............at HT both Mick and I had to fight our way out of the toilets amid anti English abuse.
1981-82 Div 2 CCFC 2 Luton 3 ( Brian Stein 2, Mal Donaghy) Att: 10,277 -
A Monday night fixture last game of the glorious Div 2 title winning season. Bluebirds HAD to win and send Bolton down with Wrexham and Orient. But it was relatively easy for Town as we raced into a 3-0 lead by the 72nd min. We even had a Bolton fan stood with us who had travelled down supporting Luton. He left 10 mins from time, I often wondered if he was flapping when Cardiff made it 3-2 with three mins remaining?
1993-94 FA Cup 5 CCFC 1 Luton 2 ( Scott Oakes, David Preece RIP) Att: 17,296 -
This was like going back in time to the bad old days of 1970's/80's football hooliganism. The Cardiff locals made life very uncomfortable for the 4,000 (despite obscene prices - at the time of £16 for an open terrace ticket) Hatters travelling support................. That is the same price for over 60's at tonights game - nearly 30 years later!!! Targeted pre, during and post match - more than a few Town supporters were either violently attacked or had their vehicle windows smashed in by Cardiff thugs!
At their new Cardiff City Stadium - what a difference to the old place now - both the lovely regenerated city itself and 33,000 seated stadium - FAR more welcoming! :
2019-20 Championship (old Div 2) CCFC 2 Luton 1 ( Matt Pearson) Att: 24,724 -
In front of 2,064 Hatters in glorious sunshine, Town gave a good account of themselves and were desperately unlucky to come away pointless. Matty Pearson scored a fine equaliser 4 mins from time, only for ex Hatter Issac Vassell to come on as sub in one of his very few Bluebirds apps and net a 95th min Cardiff winner! It was his only Cardiff goal he ever scored.
2019-20 League Cup 2 CCFC 0 Luton 3 ( Elliot Lee pen, Alan Sheehan, Jake Jervis) Att: 4,111 -
Evidence that sadly this great old competition which gave us our finest ever 90 mins in 1988, means absolutely nothing to modern clubs and supporters anymore. Both sides made multiple changes from the league fixture 18 days prior and the gate was pitiful, inc just 232 Hatters. But I'm glad I still went to see a brilliant Luton showing which had a trademark Alan Sheehan free kick his 9th & last LTFC goal and Jake Jervis's one and only Town goal in 14 apps.

Loyal, thanks as always for your ‘previous encounters’ summary, it’s a shame you weren’t able to enjoy last night’s win in person. I suspect like many other Fools that you watched the game so probably enjoyed a clearer view of things than many of us at the match.
Thought Lockyer was particularly good but this was another great team performance against a Cardiff side who showed great pace and skill but woeful final balls and with one exception, finishing. I do hope Burke is not seriously injured as our ‘new’ back three really seems to work- that said, Osho (when not scoring himself 😁) would be an equally strong member. Great to see Fred back - it was his extra pace and excellent cross that finally opened Cardiff up, similarly a superb Bree cross for the second. It looked as if Bell? made a wayward clearance which landed at Sawyers’ feet and his excellent shot beat Horvath? Sadly, there are no more away fixtures in South Wales this season.
