Totally agree Shatter. Think we last played Braintree in Feb 2013? www.lutontown.co.uk/news/2013/february/report-braintree-2-0-townInteresting to look at the league tables at the end of that season, 2012/13 – we finished 7th in the Conference. Last night’s opponents Posh finished 22nd in the Championship and were relegated. Cardiff and Hull won auto promotion to the Premiership and Palace beat Watford in the play off final. Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, Boro, Hudds, Bpool, Brum, Derby, and Forest all survived, along with Brighton, Leicester, Bolton, Charlton, Burnley, Leeds, Ipswich and Wednesday. Self evidently things haven’t gone so well since for Ipswich, Charlton, Wednesday and Bolton but they are only one league below in League One. To have come from where we were to where we are now in ten seasons is absolutely remarkable Totally agree mate. We are currently 4th in the 2nd tier of English football. A staggering 75 places up the Football pyramid. Astounding. Just to clarify though bms We last played Braintree, at home on April 12th 2014. Knowing a win would clinch the Conference title and promotion. In front of a sell out 10,020 - inc 96 Braintree fans..........they spoilt the party as we lost 3-2 after finding ourselves 3-0 down on 56 mins - totally killing a fantastic carnival pre match atmosphere. Braintree were a bit of a bogey side in our 6 Conference clashes .......2 Hatters wins and Four defeats! 2012-13 saw my all time Luton attending worst experience. I was one of just 126 MAD Insane Hatters at Carlisle (out of a total of just 382) to see us thrashed 5-1 by Gateshead! Thanks Loyal! Braintree are currently in the National League South …I’ll leave it that

The very last time we played them away was in November 2013, when we won 2-1. It was a Tuesday night, which I clearly remember for having to run like mad to catch the train back! Can't remember who scored, but I do remember an Alex Lacey clearance off the line late on which saved the points for us. With our previous 2 visits being a couple of our worst performances of the whole non-league era, actually winning there was one of the times you felt we were finally on the right track...

That clearance by Lacey just at the end of the game ranks as one of the best I have seen. I suppose that Lacey benefited from McNulty’s coaching of him in the first half when the big man shouted to the then young Lacey “keep your fu**ing eyes on the ball”: magical.

I too was at Carlisle a strangely surreal fixture Luton on one side of the ground and Gateshead high up in the stand opposite us. It was played at Carlisle because a very wet time in the North East meant Gatesheads pitch was waterlogged and unplayable for quite a few games and alternative venues had to be found. The loss was definitely on a par with Everton at Villa Park.

Paul Benson and Andy Parry (one of his 4 LTFC goals) scored for us Dawn. Must confess I can't remember the Lacey clearance, but what I DO recall was it being freezing cold and seeing a friend (son of old ex Luton News Sports Editor Eric Norris RIP) still dressed in his shorts as he ALWAYS is to this day - no matter what the temperature is! You and I were two of 728 Hatters there in an attendance of 1,518 - nearly half the total gate! As bms has pointed out, Braintree are now 4 tiers below us in National League South and are currently in 15th place out of 21 teams.
