Tomorrow we welcome "The Railwaymen" to Kenilworth Road in what hopefully should be our penultimate home match. We need 7 points to be absolutely sure of promotion although if other games go our way less. "Alex" are eleven points clear of the drop so they should not have any relegation worries, they put four past Mansfield last week away from home so we can't take a win for granted. By all accounts it's a full house tomorrow so it should create a great atmosphere at the Kenny, lets get this done!! COYH!!

I was really hoping that almost 50 years to the day, after we thrashed Crewe 4-0 to win the Div 4 title in 1968, we might have seen this game as our promotion clincher from the same tier this season.
Alas, that will have to wait for possibly/probably Carlisle away next Saturday, or Forest Green at home on Apr 28th.
Tomorrow will be my 1,820th Hatters game attended and the 1,183rd at Kenilworth Road.
NATURALLY, I hope to be seeing my 779th Town win and not the 477th draw, or God forbid - my 566th defeat!
I've seen us play the Alex 8 times since 1969 ...................with us winning 4, drawing 3 and losing just the once - the 1997 2-1 Play Off Semi Final 1st leg defeat at Gresty Road.

the weather is looking friendly the club has won the family friendly award Danny has been told to be more ref-friendly (but will he have listened?) ...but this is no friendly today I want nothing less than a 3 -0 win and an atmosphere to make the whole of Luton smile. Collins (2) and Sheehan is my prediction...

Pay your money, take your choice . . .
Elliott or Pelly, Pelly or Elliott? You seldom see goals of that quality outside of the top two divisions. And Pelly, what a performance and who says he cannot tackle and that aggression in the final few minutes, Man of the Match by a country mile, and so say all of us.
Luton dominated against a good Crewe team and fingers crossed, it could be all over next Tuesday and please God let's win the last three and hope for an Accrington meltdown.

Pellys price going up all the time, we always believed in him Liz, delighted he's delivering for the Town and scoring, great stuff.

My POTS Sheehan held up his hands straightaway via twitter to accept blame for the opener but he and all the lads were immense yesterday. The Still/WHU gang of Potts, Pelly and the Lee brothers are making magnificent contributions and it may have been so unfortunate for Berry, whom I wish well for a speedy recovery, but this has led to the renaissance of Pelly who deservedly was named POTM. And let's not forget the old warhorse McCormack who has cemented the MF, allowing Pelly to tackle and create in the way we know he can.Had that goal been in the élite Premiership, commentators would have been drooling over multiple replays.
As I was saying BEFORE the match to Roger Wash, Simon Pitts and Darron Salton yesterday, we can't cock it up now....er....can we? And hallelujah! We've just about done the job, so well done to all concerned. And this means I can sit back and enjoy trips to Carlisle and Nottingham plus the final home game without all the angst over shall we, shan't we.
Up the Hatters - en route to EFL Division 1 and boy, am I glad for once not to have a refund on my season ticket price!

Yes, absolutely terrific stuff yesterday - let’s hope for a miraculous away win for Chesterfield on Tuesday night. And Pelly - finally another ‘Dartford Rocket’, just when it was needed and capping another outstanding game for him. Interesting to see both Plym and Pompey vying for a Lg1 playoff place - no reason why we can’t do the same next season - or better! COYH!

Really entertaining game yesterday.
Crewe worked hard and at times, a slightly over-casual approach from Town let them gain a foothold.
We are blessed this year with a side with multiple threats, several who can make something out of very little, and two very dangerous forwards. We dominated possession and chances and whilst the slip ups were momentarily disappointing, despite Crewe's admirably game approach throughout (passing out from the back, minimal time-wasting and a reasonable threat from Bowery) you never got the impression we would lose...even when we inexplicably went behind.
The response was immediate and devastating. Hylton's equaliser showed his threat but the second from E Lee was absolute class, holding off several defenders before bending in a classic from range. Absolute beauty. Not to be outdone, Pelly joined the party with a spectacular instinctive hit for the 3rd out of nothing.
Most of the team played well throughout bar some occasionally silly showboating at 0-0, and slight casual approach at times, and a bit of jitteryness at the back after NJ threw on Mullins and changed our shape/roles, and Hylton's daft antics midway through the 2nd half when he momentarily risked a sending off before calming down.
McCormack did most things ok, but he is no Nicholls. He may have been in the past, but is definitely showing his age. Whilst he got his foot in well at times and knitted things together well enough most of the time, some of his passing and decision making was disappointing. He was another who was probably a bad challenge from a red card after picking up another stupid yellow.
A longer term replacement for his role would be a priority for me in the summer.
Beside him however, Pelly played very well indeed. He commits to tackles much less, but often intelligently covers ground and closes passing options when out of possession and rarely lost the ball when he received it himself. Often he showed great composure to give himself time on the ball, more than once coming out of tight spots and playing the right pass. His goal was beautifully struck. He may not score often, but they do tend to be good when he does.
Honourable mentions to both Lees. Frankly, based on what I have seen this year, I do not understand the criticism directed at O Lee. He may not totally dominate games, but always seems to keeps us ticking over nicely.
Some fans get frustrated with our patient approach, only to applaud when it invariably leads to an opening or good/even better cross field pass they were looking for in the first place. I despair of some supporters.
Both Lee's are good on the ball, often holding off two or three opposing players, possess a vicious shot and excellent technique. One first half volley from O Lee from a corner (I think) was quite superbly struck on the full and probably deserved a goal too.
All in all..I was very happy yesterday evening and looking forward to us finishing the job now. COYH

Actually a draw for Chesterfield on Tuesday will be enough for us to clinch promotion. Come on you Spireites! A draw will suit me fine friend. That means mathematically, we cannot be promoted on Tuesday night - I do not want a third successive damp squib like promotion, at a neutral ground like our last two promotions - at Kidderminster in 2014 and Brentford 2005. Yesterday. What a joy, a touch disappointed we did not sell out Kenilworth Road on such a nice day. We cannot blame the weather for 'only' 9,013 Hatters attending. At least Forest Gump is now a 10,000 sell out on the 28th. My take on the game (for what it's worth) a fine match to watch. I knew it would be, as Crewe have ALWAYS been a team who try to play football - unlike many others in this league! Even at 0-1 down thanks to a rare Sheehan error, I was not concerned. Once Danny scored his 22nd goal of the season, there was never any doubt who would win this. BOTH Elliot Lee and Pelly need heartfelt congratulations for their stunning brilliant strikes. How must Elliot feel to have had two of his best ever career goals bettered on the day? By his brother's goal from St Albans v Cambridge and Pelly's outrageous 35 yard screamer yesterday. Alas, can't make Carlisle - lightweight - most know the reasons why - but my 60th birthday party on Sat night will be a double celebration. Big Six 0 (not actually until the 26th) AND Promotion party. COYRRH

A REALITY CHECK - not exactly football-related but there are other things in life, Mr Shankley.
Safely arrived at King's Cross yesterday on time, I walked across as usual to St Pancras to catch the 13.01 to Luton. A few minutes later, while sitting in the train, the dreaded announcement came over the PA that someone had been hit by a train at Wellingborough and no EMT services were moving. I dashed ( or at my advanced age scurried in somewhat undignified fashion) down 3 escalators, fuming and cursing that my journey had been disrupted and just managed to get on the bedpan line 13.04.
Calming down later, I reflected that the victim would have been a sibling, a parent or an offspring and that this act would affect an entire family.
But my heart goes out to the poor innocent driver who would be deeply traumatised by the incident and he just happened to be doing his job in the wrong place at the wrong time.
So amid all the euphoria over the win at KR it kind of puts it all into perspective, doesn't it?
