Tomorrow we take on the Magpies at St. James park. Our biggest Cup game since our giant killing of Norwich a few years back. Be great if the 7,000 travelling fans had a similar result as at Carrow Road. Whatever happens it should be a fantastic away day up in the North East. The last time I went to Newcastle for a cup game was back in 1973 when legend John Aston scored a brace which saw us into the next round.I've added a picture of John scoring one of these goals. Have a great day out to all those who are making the trip. COYH!! (click on image to enlarge)

Really wished I'd booked up for a weekender now, but guess one can't do it ALL! Especially after trips to Gateshead, Swindon and Port Vale recently and Chesterfield next weekend.
Judging by Facebook, half of Luton are in Toon having the craic already.
I shall be leaving by car early (very) tomorrow morning heading for the North East, staying and partying in Hartlepool tomorrow night.
By the looks of things, many are lumping on Luton to get a result against Newcastle Reserves. Two weeks ago we were 9/1 to win and 6/1 the draw. Last week that was down to 7/1 and 5/1............I had a tenner each yesterday at 4/1 the draw and 6/1 Luton win.............................today it is down to 7/2 draw & 5/1 Hatters win!
Tomorrow will be my 9th visit (NIL Town wins) to St Jame's Park. 1974-1994........I lived in Adelaide, Oz for our very first match played in Orange cols ..... FA Cup 4 1973 0-2 when two John Aston goals saw us go through to Round 5 v Leicester (humped 0-4) ...........
I have a feeling we are going to win 0-1..............WHATEVER happens - the 7,400 Hatters on tour can be proud of themselves for their devotion to duty..........and we WILL Party win, draw or lose.
COYH

It did! He gave the ball away from which Shelvey scored - was a Pelly fan but he had a nightmare first, can't think of anything he did right - like playing with 10 men, it was all happening around him then when he got the ball he either lost it or misplaced a pass. Expected him to be subbed at half time and he was. I do believe, sadly, his days with us are numbered. Hoped the more classy tempo of playing a Premier league team would suit him more than the physicality of League 2 - it didn't. Rant over

So was Stech at fault for any of the goals again?

first goal definitely Stech error - spilled out of his hands low down to feet of Perez. Others will disagree but I felt he ought to have stopped 2nd goal too. He was blameless for the 3rd and made a couple of really good saves. That said, I felt with Christian Walton it would have been 1-0 at worst at half time. And without the first two goals they may not have had the momentum to get the 3rd. It seemed to me several Town players were disgruntled with Stech after the goals. Time for Shea in the League as well as Checkatrade?

And it should have been 3-2 with Hylts 2nd - never offside, couldn't believe it was disallowed - with the momentum from that.. who knows? Even aside from Elliot Lee hitting the crossbar. we were at least as good as then in the second half - and they had just about (keeper aside) their best team out.

You can't go into a game against a premier league club with a passenger...Pelly was absolute shite !...his contribution in the first half was zilch ! If he was being marked as per a referee he would have got 2 points for having the right kit on ! I sincerely hope he never plays another game for Luton Town...how come NJ picked him to start is beyond me...I would have hauled him off after 20 minutes ! We were much better in the 2nd half, and my M.O.M. super Dan, was robbed of a goal, had that goal stood, the game would have been really interesting !! Agree... I think a rest is due for Stetch. Having said that...Really enjoyed a great day oop north !...Our support was bloody fantastic...Now we can concentrate on the last 20 league games and hopefully go up as worthy champions.

I agree with the comments of those that attended the game; without doubt a great day out in a wonderful stadium in front of a crowd of 47000. What absolutely magnificent support from 7500 travelling Hatters and I have to say that the trains I journeyed on were packed with the Kenny faithful; what's not to like! On train home after a very cold but superb day on the bike in the NE - the Sunday lunch at the Black Bull in Frosterley is a must if you are anywhere nearby. Gave me plenty of time to reflect on the game but can’t say anything I wouldn’t have posted at 5pm yesterday so here goes- - our fans are unbelievable. Def the best bit of the afternoon for me - first visit to St James Park for me, superb ground - thought it was Premier League sides that have a reputation for fielding weakened sides? Apart from their young keeper, the Toon were at full strength. So when I saw our line up, I assumed the worst - I was right to assume the worst. Three belated Xmas gifts ( Four if you include the selection) meant the game was over in a ten minute spell - Yes, Stech did spill the first but had any of our players had the wherewithal to act, Perez wouldn’t have had his tap in. - Collins spent most the first half on the ground complaining after being lawfully dispossessed, Hylton was naughty but good. Won’t mention the P word. - Second half we were terrific. Couldn’t see anything wrong with Hylton’s terrific second. Had Elliot come on earlier ( why didn’t he start instead of Collins, so much to prove to his father?..) - the acres of space on the right side were just screaming out for Stacey - like most of us, I stayed and clapped the players, NJ and PH but I was thinking this was a winnable or at least drawable game with the RIGHT PLAYERS IN THE RIGHT ORDER to paraphrase our most famous supporter - there’s a statue of ‘Wor Jackie’ outside the stadium. It will be sometime before a statue of ‘Wor Pelly’ appears outside our stadium, although it’s worth knocking up a prototype and selecting it for lucrative cup games ( and away games at Port Vale) in place of its namesake ( if that’s the right term for the living person who the statue represents) - Sheehan presumably kept a very low profile yesterday? - Well done Coventry and County. Anyone notice Accy sneaking back up there?
See you at Chesterfield!
