When we drew with the Throstles earlier in the season it marked the end for Steve Bruce. Carlos Corberan took over and has made steady progress up the League and was Manager of the Month for December. We too are on a run unbeaten in four (counting Wigan in the Cup) so with two inform teams meeting it's a hard one to call. My first game since Rotherham so really looking forward to this game and maybe seeing a few Fools. See you at the bar! COYH! WBA Trivia. The Hawthorns is well served for rail transport having a tram line and a conventional rail line quite close to the stadium. When we played them last year I took the tram to the ground, I snapped a couple photos. Wolverhampton bound tram stopping at the Hawthorns.

I’ve often wondered about their Baggies nickname so decided to check it out. Pretty un inventive really but here goes:
Apparently around 1897 when West Brom and Aston Villa clashed at Villa's old Perry Bar Ground, a large number of West Brom's fans walked to the ground in their industrial-sized boots and big, baggy moleskin trousers. Upon seeing them, the Villa fans mockingly shouted 'here come the baggy, baggy, baggy men'

No I retired from that last season. They then asked me to help out before games which I did for a while, second half of last season and earlier this season, but they made it far to awkward to help out so I retired again … Which means I can’t aimlessly wander up to see you, Dawn or the man in the orange shirt 😁

Good to see Clark back. Let’s hope it’s only Albion who wander aimlessly today.

Beaten by a better side after having given ourselves a real chance with two early goals. But that should probably read too early goals - Albion pressure was fairly relentless from then until they finally went ahead. Am in no hurry to see Coberan, Wallace and co any time soon.

Let's hope that no Southampton scouts were watching Bree today or the price will have halved. Same for Clark his many touches were mostly misplaced.
Great first 20 minutes followed by 70 minutes of being outplayed. Took us to the heights and then came crashing down.
Forget about playoffs, mid-table will be fine.
Man of the match selected was Lockyer, but who cares?

Overall we were beaten by a very good and well-coached WBA team that dominated the game for about 75% of the time. Splendid opening by the Town but after that, the midfield battle was only going to go one way. I am a great admirer of Clarke who willingly slots into any position asked of him but maybe defensive midfield is asking overly much against a big physical side such as WBA.
It’s easy to say in retrospect, but on the assumption that Burke was only fit enough to be on the bench, then maybe it would have been a better idea to start with Osho either in defence or bring him on as a sub, holding midfield, once we saw the domination WBA had in midfield. Also can't quite work out the selection/tactics employed with the hugely talented Alfie 1) why play him as a right-wing back and 2) with that blistering pace why not leave him occupying two defenders on the centre spot when the opposition have a corner?
I would think that WBA look a very good bet for a playoff place so with respect to Luton, no shame in losing to one of the best-performing sides I have seen this season. A bright spot for me was once again the positioning and passing of young Watson in his short spell on the pitch. Maybe not so good in this game was the usually dependable Horvath: he made some good stops but could have done better with at least one or maybe two of the WBA goals IMO.
Some decisions coming up for RE I guess & not just the one of stay or go James Bree’s contract. If and hopefully when we collect the 11 or so points needed to cement our Championship place for next season, should RE start thinking about giving serious game time to the likes of Watson, Isted/Macey (once we are safe & assuming we don’t sign Hovarth any point in playing him past 50 points). Maybe Pettit may be given some game time. Having said that, I recognize there is a thirst a supporters to give the young players a chance but personally not that sure that we have any that are close to first-team ready other than Watson & Pettit.
Interesting months ahead for sure.

I made it to my 1,947th Hatters game (53 to target 2,000) and 1,267th at the Kenny. It was the 12th time I've seen the Baggies at our shrine since 1975 and they just had to even it up to: 4 Luton wins, four draws and 4 WBA wins.
After a wonderful start with two great goals in the opening 10 mins, Albion's class began to tell (even without their suspended top scorer) and I had a horrible feeling that once they scored they would go on to win it. No shame in losing to what was easily the best side I've seen at KR this season - chalk and cheese compared to the Baggies team at The Hawthorns in October! They will go up with Burnley and Sheff Utd.
But my highlight of the day (first 10 mins apart naturally) was post match in the Bobbers Club, seeing and meeting my all time favourite Hatters goalkeeper (in my era since 1966) - Jake Findlay (just ahead of Miljia 'Elastic' Aleksic RIP) first time I'd seen him since the great days of the 80's in the Players Bar and old Century Club................and he also kindly purchased my book.
Under normal circumstances I'd have travelled to Wigan for the FA Cup Replay on Tuesday, but midweek away games are probably out of my range now because of my ongoing health issues - but I am going to try and make the league game next weekend.

Oh and once again I was hugely impressed with Louie Watson when he came on. Honestly think we have a player here. I have yet to see him make a stray pass in his limited games that he's played. Time for him to be a starter imo, certainly at the Cup replay on Tuesday.

Agree with Wimbos excellent summary and LLs praise of Watson. Obviously disappointed with the defeat after such a good start, but Albion controlled the game from about 20 minutes in. We had one corner second half and I can't remember their keeper having to make a save in the 2nd period. Best team I've seen at the Kenny this year and contenders for promotion through the playoffs.
