Thought I'd write a short thread for tomorrows match against the Lesser Spotted Canaries. Always find it an enjoyable opener to the coming season, hopefully see some of the new signings and catch up with a few fools. I know a few of us are meeting up for a pre match drink at the Coopers Arms in Tile House Street will be there 5ish. See you at the bar!

Hitchin Town, let's go into their past glories with their most famous ever match at the White City in the semi-final of the Amateur Cup in 1961 and a picture of their captain and probably their greatest ever player Bruce Spavins. Bruce, a skilled centre half who probably could have played at a much higher level, but for only 20 quid a week, why bother?

No Pelly, no Campbell, no Bell tonight, according to NJ. Campbell and Bell got an extra week off. He says Pelly is nearer being back than Rea and Shea but given how long they'll be out for that's not necessarily saying a lot...

Unless there is something newer than the NJ interview, I thought he was positive about Pelly returning to fitness. Oh, and if you see me hobbling around tonight, tap me on the shoulder and I'll give you a shirt contribution.

Yes, hopefully Pelly is close, but I think he actually said something like "Pelly is closer than the other 2" and on reflection I thought that could still be quite a while. Fingers crossed it isn't, though. I'll be looking out for you later

First back report: Slightly confused, I'm not used to sitting at ground level and apart from the odd Luton player with a recognisable number on their back it was a job to know who was doing what and where. The game was played 95 percent in the Hitchin half so realistically more goals could have been expected.
The players that I did recognise and that impressed me were Thorpe, playing wide right showed speed and control. Woodrow had a fine game and scored a cracker from just outside the box and looking at his youtube vids it was most unexpected that hie missed a penalty. It was struck well but at the height that goalkeepers like who obviously went the right way. Adebayo did what Adebayo does and was virtually unplayable.
Hightlight of the night was a pint of Dunbar at £3.20 and the lowlight was £7 for a bacon cheese burger, mind you there was a leaf of lettuce in it. That's Dawn's shirt sponsorship spent.

I walked round the ground at half time looking for you Liz, Dawn wanted me to find you and get the shirt money, did you hide when you saw me coming!😁

I was in the posh seats but at half time I joined a necessary queue. Not a problem with the shirt, Dawn sits very near me in the main stand.
