This year’s sponsorship project has well and truly taken off already since I posted the review of last year’s activity. Many seasoned contributors have already been in touch and sent over money, so there’s absolutely no doubt that we’re going ahead, but for those not quite so familiar with the routine, this post is to fill in the gaps, and hopefully persuade you to get involved!
Message boards have come and gone, but the loosely-connected group of Hatters currently posting on the Fool have an unbroken tradition of sponsoring a player’s kit each season going back to at least the Conference years. For the last couple of seasons we’ve sponsored Glen Rea’s away kit. As Glen is unlikely to feature next season, I’m planning for a new player, but we’ll need to wait for the club to launch the kit sponsorships for next season to see exactly who’s available. Rest assured I’ll be poised for action when they do!
We don’t yet know the prices for the new season, but last year we paid £850, so I imagine it will be that or slightly higher. The benefits are generally along the lines of:
• Signed photo of player
• Namecheck in the home match day programme
• A morning at the training ground
• PA recognition if player scores a goal at home
• Website recognition on the player profile profile
• One place at the annual the end of season dinner
• The player’s shirt at the end of the season
Everyone who contributes to the sponsorship, whatever the amount, has an equal chance of being the person drawn out to enjoy one of the benefits. Here it how it all panned out last season
Anyone and everyone who’d like to be involved is welcome – past contributors and new ones, regular posters, Bobberman players and lurkers. Everyone contributes as much as they can afford, £5, £10, £50 or even more… It all helps us reach the total we need.
How to contribute:
1) PayPal: If you have a PayPal account, you can make a contribution via hatter28’s PayPal account markstephenson237@hotmail.com. When making your payment, select the “family or friends” option to avoid PayPal charging any fees.
2) BACS: If you alert me by post on this thread or by PM, I will send you my details to enable you to make a bank transfer a little-used bank account I have which comes in very handy for this purpose every year!
3) Cash: If you attend matches, you’re welcome to give me the money in person. Let me know and I’ll make sure our paths cross. I should be at some of the friendlies (hopefully Hitchin for sure where I usually pick up a contribution or two!) or one of the early season games.
4) Cheque: In a change to what we used to do, this would need to be made out to me (rather than the Club), so I can pay our invoice online. If this is your preferred method, please let me know and I will PM you my name and address details.
5) If none of the above quite meets your needs and you still want to contribute, drop me a message and I’m sure we can work something out.
If you’ve transferred or posted things to me previously and still have those details, I can confirm that none of them have changed.
As always, thank you all very much for continuing to make these efforts a success.
UPDATE 5/7/22: the amount we're aiming to raise is £1000 and our sponsorship for the coming season will be the home shirt of Gabriel Osho.
